Sergio Perez admits he was too aggressive in 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has admitted that he was too aggressive with his teammate, Jenson Button in the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix to gain position.
Perez tried to overtake Button twice in the Bahrain GP and made very dangerous contacts. At first, he had a contact with the right rear tyre of the Briton and just after few laps, their tyres touched with each other on a straight line while fighting for
a position.
The Mexican driver said that he had a hard fight with the Briton in the fourth race and they had two very perilous contacts as they wanted to gain position over each other. Nevertheless, he expressed that they will hopefully help each other in the forthcoming
race to attain competitive results.
“I think today was a little bit too hard; the fight between me and Jenson,” Perez said. “We touched few times but while you are there you are just fighting and you have adrenaline. You want to take position from your team-mate but definitely I think it was
little bit too much. Hopefully for next race we can help each other little bit more, but with pace of our car and where we were we could not give any room to anyone so we were fighting really hard.”
In addition, he agreed that he showed extreme aggressiveness during the last race, but asserted that his teammate was equally aggressive too. He also said that he went off the track for a few times while trying to gain position. Besides, he stated that he
will talk to the 33-year-old to sort out the issues between them.
“I agree that we were too aggressive but he was as aggressive as I was,” he added.
It will be important to mention that he delivered quite an impressive performance in the last round and managed to secure 6th place finish which is his best result in the season until now and he believes it’s a perfect answer for his critics.
The 23-year-old is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching race and it will be thrilling to see whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team or not.
