Sergio Perez aims strong result in 2012 United States Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is aiming to attain competitive result in the 2012 United States Grand Prix which is going to be held at Circuit of The Americas next weekend.
Perez has impressed everyone with his amazing talent and has performed quite convincingly in the season so far. Although, he has not been able to perform with consistency, but he is still been considered as one of the most talented youngsters in the sport.
Moreover, he has secured a new multi-year deal with McLaren and will drive as Jenson Button’s teammate from the next season onwards.
On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton of the Woking based team has planned to join Mercedes in the coming year as Michael Schumacher’s replacement who has decided to say goodbye to F1 after this season.
The Mexican driver has said that he is looking forward to the United States GP as his home race and is expecting a huge love and support from his Mexican fans in Austin.
“I am aware of the great enthusiasm for F1 in my country, so I hope there will be a Mexican Grand Prix one day,” Perez said. “But for now, I regard the race in Austin as my home race.”
“I am very much looking forward to it! I think it is the closest race for eight years for me to my home town of Guadalajara,” said the Mexican. “I expect many Mexican Formula One fans to attend and this will give me an extra boost.”
In addition, he said that they are trying their best to make the substantial step-ups in their car in order to improve its pace for the upcoming race. Besides, he said that he is targeting to secure good results for his team in next weekend’s race.
“I definitely want to put in a strong result for both the Sauber F1 Team and myself,” he added.
The 22-year-old has secured three podium finishes in the season so far and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the last two grands prix of the ongoing season.
