Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi will make a fine pair - Peter Sauber
Peter Sauber, confirms Sergio Perez for the 2011 season believing that the signing of a rookie would not have a bad effect on the team performance. The driver will be driving alongside Kamui Kobayashi in the team who is also a very young driver and has little
experience as compared to most of the other drivers in Formula One.
The 2010 season has seen Kobayashi for the first full year in Formula One while Perez would be coming for the very first time to the series, straight from GP2. Looking at BMW Sauber’s drivers’ line-up many believe that it will be a risk taking two very young
and inexperienced drivers in a team that is already struggling with a number of issues. However, Sauber dismissed all such fallacies and fears saying that this kind of combination is not new to the Formula One world. He believes that similar pairings have
worked very well in the past as well, and he is hopeful that this is going to do good for the team in the upcoming year also.
Sauber commented on his drivers’ line-up saying, "I'm confident that we're going into next year in good shape from a driver point of view. Kamui has also made big steps forward this year on the technical side of things, and I have no doubt that he will continue
to grow with his new responsibility. Sergio is brimming with talent. For him, it's a question of learning quickly. Here, he can pick things up from Kamui in the same way that Kamui did from Pedro and Nick.”
When recalling past years he declared that 2001 was one of the best years for Sauber and then the team signed a rookie, Kimi Räikkönen to drive alongside Nick Heidfeld who was driving only for his second season in Formula One.
Kobayashi has had a sound debut season as the driver made some very impressive overtaking moves. However, Sauber believes that the Japanese driver has more potential and that the best of the driver is yet to be seen.
The team owner concluded by saying, "Kamui inspires us all within the team. His refreshing, attacking style really puts a smile on your face. You can tell from reactions in the stands that the Formula One fans love him too; his overtaking moves are always
great to watch.”
