Sergio Perez dismisses speculations linking him to McLaren – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has dismissed all the ongoing speculations which are linking him to McLaren as a potential replacement of Lewis Hamilton for the next season.
Perez has been surrounded by many rumours that the Woking based team has approached him to join them in the coming year as Hamilton’s contract is going to end at the conclusion of this season. However, he has completely discharged all the reports in this
regard.
It will be important to mention that the Mexican driver was linked with Ferrari as a probable replacement of their driver, Felipe Massa after his second podium finish in the Malaysian Grand Prix. Furthermore, he is now been associated with the British team
after his amazing performance in the Italian GP in which he secured his third podium of the ongoing season.
The 22-year-old has insisted that whenever he secures some good results, he faces such rumours which are baseless. He also said that he is not paying any attention to the prevailing speculations and is focussing to perform well in the season ahead so as
to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship fight.
In addition, he praised the efforts of his team which has provided him with one of the most competent cars in the field and he is targeting to achieve more promising results in the remaining seven grands prix.
“In the position that I'm in when I have a good result - because I'm fighting for the points and sometimes I can get some good podiums - it's always the time when the rumours start,” Perez said. “But then you have a bad race and then there are no more rumours
and they are changing to the driver who had a good race. So in that respect I'm not really worried; I know that I have a very strong car for the next seven races so I hope I can deliver very strong performances.”
Over and above, he said that he is feeling very positive for the night race in Singapore which is to be held at Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.
