Sergio Perez feels confident that first victory will come soon – Formula 1 news
Sauber-Ferrari driver Sergio Perez feels confident that he will take the victory soon in F1 after showing an incredible performance with second podium finish at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix held at Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.
In second race, Perez has attained the best ever result of his career so far while giving a tough competition to the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who eventually won the race. Nevertheless, the Mexican driver is positive that his first win will come
sooner or later. Moreover, he said that the strange race conditions proved out to be quite supportive to his car.
“The target is to keep improving our overall performance and the car,” he said. “We have to push hard and, of course, we have to stay realistic. Although the pace in the race was good we should not forget that this result came after a very special race in
extraordinary conditions. Ultimately I always wanted to win races and I strongly believe my first win in Formula One will come sooner or later - in an ideal world it will happen this year.”
It would be quite interesting to mention that Perez, who is also affiliated with Ferrari’s Driver Academy, had said that he would continue with Sauber throughout this season regardless of the speculations about his replacement in the Scarlet team with the
struggling Felipe Massa. He said it after showing astonishingly incredible performance at the second GP.
In addition, he said that he was very upset with the race result after getting too close to claim the victory.
Nonetheless, he said that ending at second was also a great finish and a very good initiative for the team which is making the best of the efforts to prove itself in the league of some extraordinary teams, to boost up its confidence.
Besides, he said that he was extremely pleased with everyone in his team.
Recently, he was asked about his expectations on his return while he was going back for celebrating his podium finish in his hometown, Guadalajara in Mexico, he responded, “I have no idea. Mexicans are completely out of control.”
