Sergio Perez happy to race in upcoming Canadian Grand Prix after a crash in Monaco – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is quite happy to race in the upcoming Montreal Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on June 12, 2011 in Canada.
After getting a positive medical report of Perez, the team confirmed that their driver will take part in the seventh round of the 2011 Formula 1 season. They added that he is fit enough to race in Canada, as he has recovered from the injuries that he sustained
during the final qualifying round of the recently held Monaco Grand Prix.
The young driver suffered an accident, when he was pushing for a better place in the Monaco Q3. However, he did not pick up a major injury during the crash and was immediately taken to the hospital.
The driver stayed at the Princess Grace Hospital for two nights. After a complete check-up, he was discharged from the hospital on May 30, 2011. Team Sauber is now confident that their driver will perform well in the next race weekend and put them on the
right track.
The team boss Peter Sauber added, “The results were positive, so we are very optimistic that he will be at the start in Canada.”
The 21-year-old driver seemed to be doing quite well before the crash. The team is hoping for a good finish from Perez in the Montreal race, as he has completely recovered from the injuries.
The Sauber driver admitted that missing the Monaco race was not a problem, as it is just the start of his career in Formula 1 sport. However, for the remainder of the 2011 season, he does not want to miss any race.
His teammate Kamui Kobayashi was the only driver from Sauber who took part in the previous race weekend for the team. However, he had a trouble free race and ended in the fifth place.
Despite recovering from the minor injuries, Perez will face a medical check-up on Thursday, June 9, 2011 ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
