Sergio Perez hopes Sauber to be quicker in 2012 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez is hoping to come up stronger with a quicker car in the 2012 Indian Grand Prix as compared to the preceding race held at Korea International Circuit.
Perez struggled during the Korean GP and could not score even a single point as he came 11th in the charts. On the other hand, his teammate, Kamui Kobayashi also remained unable to score any points because he was retired.
Though, the Mexican driver has said that he is feeling very disappointed over his result in the last race. Nevertheless, he has stated that they are trying their best to make the necessary advancement so as to attain competitive results in the forthcoming
race.
It is to be noted that the team principal of Sauber, Monisha Kaltenborn has said that their aim is to secure fifth place in this year’s constructors’ championship and asserted that they are making the best of the preparations to perform well in the remainder
of the season.
“It is clear we want to score a lot of points, be it in India or at any of the remaining four races,” Kaltenborn said.
The 22-year-old said that although it is really hard to beat Mercedes in the season ahead. Nonetheless, he expressed that they are making the essential developments to improve their pace and will hopefully score some crucial points in the upcoming race.
“I cannot believe we have only four races left, so the season will now end quite soon,” Perez said. “To make up 20 points to finish fifth in the Constructors' World Championship means we have quite a job to do. The race in India should be a bit better for
us than in Korea, and our car will be quicker there.”
At present, he is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship. Additionally, he is ahead of Kobayashi and is behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari. He has been considered as one of the most talented youngsters in the field as he has impressed
everyone with his amazing pace in the season until now.
It will be interesting to see how he performs in the remaining four races of the current season.
