Sergio Perez hopes to perform well 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has said that he is hoping to perform well in the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix after securing 8th place finish in the German GP.
Perez performed convincingly well in the preceding race as he came 8th and managed to score 4 important points for his team after qualifying for 13th grid slot. He has said that he is not feeling too optimistic about the season ahead
and will go to race in Hungary with realistic ambitions. In addition, he said that they are aiming to keep on making necessary improvements in their car so as to come up stronger in the season ahead.
“I'm going to Hungary with realistic ambitions and after a positive weekend at the Nurburgring, we're focused on further improving and understanding MP4-28,” said the Mexican driver.
Besides, he said that he is feeling extremely motivated for the season ahead after his strong showing at Nurburgring. In addition, he expressed that everyone in the team is quite contented with their performance in the previous race and are positively targeting
to attain better results in the upcoming races.
“I think the race in Germany showed that, when things come together, we're able to be a force in the race, even if we can't quite set the pace at the front. That is extremely motivating during a difficult year,” he said.
“Hungary is the last race of the first 'half' of 2013; it's the final event before the official summer break, so there's usually a good feeling in the paddock,” he added.
At present, the Mexican driver is standing at 12th place in the drivers’ championship with 16 points. Moreover, he is behind his main rival, Adrian Sutil of Force India and ahead of Toro Rosso pair of drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo.
In contrast, his teammate, Jenson Button is at 10th position in the drivers’ standings with 33 points. Additionally, he is behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
It will be very interesting to see whether the Woking based squad will be able to resolve their issues or not and how they perform in the season ahead.
