Sergio Perez hoping for qualifying improvement in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is hoping for qualifying improvement in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Perez has only been able to qualify for 15th grid position in the last three grands prix. Moreover, he could not pocket even a single point in the British GP at Silverstone Circuit as he was retired.
Nevertheless, he asserted that he is not disappointed over the result of the preceding race and is positively looking forward to score reasonable points in Hockenheim.
Moreover, he believes that they can attain better results in the race ahead if they make the essential advancements to improve their qualifying pace. In addition, he admired the ambience of the track of the next race and called it quite challenging in terms
of driving.
“For us it remains important to do better in the qualifying, so our Saturday performance is what we have to focus on first,” the Mexican driver said. “Our car is quick and if we could just get everything right this time we have good chances for a nice race
result. In Hockenheim I especially like the stadium part that is, driving wise, challenging and has a great atmosphere.”
The Mexican driver has emerged as one of the most talented drivers in the field this year and is presently standing at 9th place in the drivers’ championship with 39 points. Additionally, he is 10 points ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams and
11 points behind Jenson Button of McLaren.
Furthermore, he has secured two podium finishes in the season so far and is surely deemed as a competitive contender in this year’s championship fight.
Meanwhile, the Swiss team is currently at 6th position in the constructors’ rankings with 60 points. Besides, they are 13 points ahead of Williams and 38 points behind Mercedes.
Over and above, they are trying their best to keep on making the substantial step ups in order to improve the pace of their car C31 for the approaching races so as to make their position stronger in the championship battle.
