Sergio Perez looking forward to perform well in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Perez is presently standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 22 points. Moreover, he is 7 points behind Pastor Maldonado of Williams and just 1 point ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India.
The Mexican driver delivered an incredible performance in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia as he secured 8th place finish after setting off from 22nd grid position.
Later, in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, he secured an impressive second podium finish behind the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari in the rainy conditions after starting the race from 9th place in the grid.
Conversely, he could not score even a single point in the last four races. Nevertheless, he expressed that he is aiming to deliver his best in the approaching race while he said that he has the car which is competent enough of winning.
“It will be my first Canadian Grand Prix, as last year I only did a few laps in first free practice before I realised I did not feel well enough to drive. I felt very dizzy in car which was a consequence of last year's Monaco accident. I think at times in
recent races we have been very unlucky, but pace is there. I'm looking forward to doing a good job in Canada, scoring as many points as possible. It is fast and fluid circuit on which you are often close to the wall - challenging and exciting,” he said.
Sauber are currently at 7th place in the constructors’ championship with 41 points. In addition, they are 13 points ahead of Force India and 3 points behind Williams. Over and above, they are trying their best to make the necessary developments and the essential
preparations so as to enhance the pace of their car for the upcoming races in order to make their position stronger in this year’s championship.
