Sergio Perez looks forward to perform well in Europe – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the races which are going to be held in Europe.
Perez struggled a lot during the start of the season and could only score 2 points in the first three races. Nevertheless, he performed incredibly well in the Bahrain Grand Prix and managed to secure 6th place finish after taking a start from
12th grid slot.
The Mexican driver joined the Woking based squad in this season and has expressed that he is feeling really happy as everyone in his new team has given him a really warm welcome.
“It has been great getting to know the whole team - the experience has been all I thought it would be, and more,” Perez said.
Besides, he said that they faced some problems in their car due to which their performance was hindered at few occasions in the first three rounds of the season. Nevertheless, he asserted that they have been working really hard to resolve their reliability
issues so as to compete well with their rivals in the forthcoming races and are hoping to attain better results with a competent car.
“Hopefully, we have turned the corner now,” he said.
He also said that he is feeling very excited about the approaching races as all the circuits in Europe represent F1 and its history.
“It's something I’m looking forward to because Europe is really the home of Formula 1 - the circuits have a lot of history. Tracks like Monaco, Silverstone, Spa and Monza have been on the calendar since Formula 1 started in 1950 - I think it's great that
we still have those circuits that represent the sport and all its history. We can never lose them,” he added.
At present, he is standing at 11th place in the drivers’ championship with 10 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Adrian Sutil of Force India and behind his teammate, Jenson Button. He has been considered as one of the most talented youngsters
in the sport and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the season ahead.
