Sergio Perez seems hopeful for Bahrain GP despite facing immense criticism – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Sergio Perez has said that he is hoping to perform well in the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix despite facing immense criticism over his poor form in the
season until now.
Perez joined the British squad in this season as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement. Even though, he came with great ambitions to prove his potential. However, he has
not been able to deliver any admirable performance in the first three rounds of the season. Moreover, he has faced a lot of negative remarks after the Chinese GP in which he came 11th and failed to pocket any point for his team.
The Mexican has only been able to score 2 points in the season so far which he secured with his ninth place finish in the second race at Sepang International Circuit
in Malaysia. He expressed that he has been quite under pressure after facing criticism over his poor performance. Nonetheless, he asserted that he is completely honest with his team and will definitely try his best to attain good points in the forthcoming
race.
“I've definitely felt the pressure,” Perez said. “At McLaren everyone is watching your performance at every single practice session and every single race. I find
it quite amazing that after three weekends, when I had two good weekends in terms of maximising car potential, that after bad weekend I received so many criticisms. But I think this is quite normal and usual for a team like McLaren.”
“I'm never thinking about it and if I am totally honest I am not bothered about it. I am here to do my job and I will try my best this weekend and the next 16 weekends,”
he added.
It is to be noted that the team principal of McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh has said that the 23-year-old needs to toughen up to perform better in the next race.
In addition, the Briton said that they are not feeling upset over their uncompetitive performances and are positively looking forward to make some essential developments
in their car in order to compete well with their rivals in the approaching races.
