Sergio Perez slams Pastor Maldonado and labels him a dangerous driver – Formula 1 news
Sergio Perez has slammed Pastor Maldonado over the collision they had during the British Grand Prix.
Perez believes that Maldonado has become “very dangerous” and is a hazard to all drivers. He said that FIA needs to look into this issue and take action against the Venezuelan.
Perez was trying to pass Maldonado around the outside of the Brooklands and Maldonado lost eh rear of his car which forced him to run wide in to the side of the Sauber forcing an end to Perez’s race. Maldonado was still able to complete his race.
“It was matter of fact,” Perez said. “I was already in front and if not he should have given me enough space not to crash but he tried to push me all the way to the outside. I don't understand the way he's driving, I really hope the stewards can make something
because the last three or four races he has done something to someone. And it's not the first time he damaged my weekend. He did the same with Lewis [Hamilton] in Valencia and they just give him a drive-through, which I think is not enough. This guy will never
learn anything if they don't do something. It's dangerous, he's a very dangerous driver and it can hurt someone.”
Maldonado has had series of such incidents, he had an altercation with Perez at Monaco, at Valencia it was Hamilton and that is why Perez has asked FIA to look into his driving behaviour and stating that all drivers are unhappy with him.
He added that Maldonado has no respect and does not value human life. The way he drives the car is unacceptable and the FIA should take action before someone gets seriously injured.
Maldonado has defended himself by saying that it was a mere race incident and nothing more. He said that comments made by Perez were mostly made in the heat of the moment and also mainly due to the fact that the incident compromised his race.
The stewards have found Maldonado guilty of two penalties and has been given a €10,000 fine along with a reprimand.
