Sergio Perez sure he can produce more in upcoming races after positive British GP – Formula 1 news
Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said that he is sure that he can produce more in the upcoming race weekends of the 2011 Formula 1 season after showing a positive performance in the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone race circuit.
Perez had a good start to the Silverstone race weekend as he finished his Friday Free Practice sessions on the grid in a positive manner. He seemed to make a lot of struggle for his best finish during the qualifying round and secured a 12th place
for Sunday’s race.
After a successful qualifying round in Silverstone, the youngest driver of Formula 1 was hopeful for a strong raceday on Sunday, July 10, 2011. The team driver had a trouble-free race at the Silverstone racetrack. He was 65.5 seconds off the pace of the
British Grand Prix winner Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and ended up at the seventh place ahead of the Renault’s Nick Heidfeld.
Perez told the media that the start of the race was somewhat tough, but he managed to stay out of trouble and focused on strategy. He admitted that his pitstops during the race were perfect and that he is happy with his good performance in Silverstone.
The 21-year-old driver discussed his 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix and said, “Unfortunately I couldn't overtake Nico (Rosberg). I was very close but he was too fast on the straights. Overall I am happy and now the difficult times are behind me. After
the accident it took me time to get back into the rhythm of the season.”
On the other hand, teammate Kamui Kobayashi retired from the Silverstone race due to an oil leakage in his C30 car.
Kobayashi mentioned after a disappointing race, “It is a real shame because our overall performance was good this weekend. In today's race I was very unlucky. I think there is not a lot for me to say about the accident with Michael (Schumacher).”
After a positive race weekend in Silverstone, Perez is looking forward to successful races in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
