The 25 year old Ukrainian, Sergiy Stakhovsky battled it out for 161 minutes in the first round of 2011 Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany on Monday as he finally managed  to beat Jaroslav Pospisil 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(5) for his 19th
achievement of the year.
The first set of the match saw the World No. 45 hit three aces, zero double faults and won seventy three percent of service points. On the other hand, Pospisil hit nine double faults and only twenty seven percent of return points.
However, he still managed to win the set 4-6 as he was able to save a hundred percent of his break points.
During the second set of the match Sergiy served one ace, zero double faults and won eighty percent of service points and fifty one percent return points and finally winning a total of two out of seven breakpoints. Pospisil played
zero aces, hit three double faults and had forty nine percent of service points along with twenty percent of return points. Thus, only attaining, thirty nine percent of total points where as Stakhovsky won a total of sixty one percent of total set points and
winning the set 6-2.
The third set was the longest as Sergiy saved five out five break points, served four aces, and won a total of thirty four of forty eight service points making it seventy one percent. On the contrary Pospisil came back to make
it a tie but lost the tiebreaker 7-6(5).
The overall match saw eight aces, zero double faults and seventy three percent of total service points along with only a thirty eight percent of return points thus giving the Ukrainian a total of 114 game points as to his opponent
who managed to attain a total of 101 game points.
It was time  for Jaroslav to avenge his adversary as the two players had met before in 2008 at the Labertz Open, Aachen, Germany where Stakhovsky beat Jaroslav to 6-3 6-4 win, however, to no avail.
Stakhovsky has a good year as he has managed to win nineteen matches and lost only sixteen. He entered into three grand slam with his most recent performance being at Wimbledon where he won the first round but lost the second to
Ivan Ljubicic. He played the French Open at the Stade Roland Garros and won the first two rounds but was defeated in the third by the World number seven, David Ferrer. Again at the Australian Open he cleared the first two rounds but lost in the third to Tommy
Robredo.
Perhaps a tad successful at this event, Stakhovsky will next be either facing Federico Del Bonis of Argentina or Florian Mayer of Germany in the next upcoming round.
