Serhiy Fedchenko: My performance in the ring will silence everyone – Boxing News
Serhiy Fedchenko, the current owner of the interim WBO light welterweight gold, who will defend his title against Juan Manuel Marquez, has said that he is not intimidated at all by either Juan’s impressive resume or by the pro-Juan crowd adding that he will
answer all the questions in the ring by his performance.
Fedchenko and Juan will setup a classic 12-round main event extravaganza at the New Mexico City Arena situated in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. The stacked pay-per-view is being promoted by the duo of Fernando Beltran of Promociones Zanfer and Bob
Arum of Top Rank and will be televised on HBO in its weekly boxing show.
The night will be co-headlined by the non-title middleweight bout between Saul Roman and Richard Gutierrez. Juan and Fedchenko recently met at the final pre-bout press conference and put forth the media their thoughts about the April 14, 2012 showdown.
A bird’s eye analysis of both men clearly shows that Juan has an upper hand over Fedchenko in almost all the basic and significant parameters. Juan is entering his career’s 61st bout in front of his hometown crowd after long 18 years and definitely cannot
bear a defeat in front of them.
Above all, his experience and the fact that he has proudly held a long list of titles, makes him almost invincible to the surging Ukrainian Serhiy. The knockout ability, reach advantage, footwork, agility and all other aspects prove that Manuel will obliterate
Serhiy.
Serhiy, also known as ‘The Professor’, has been in a total 31 bouts and boasts 30 wins and just one loss. He has nailed 13 opponents by knockout. The 31-year-old possesses everything requisite to become a champion but his current engagement against Juan
can be easily dubbed as ‘an unequal match’.
During the press conference, Fedchenko showed iron will and great heart by saying, “I will only say that on Saturday I will speak in the ring with my performance and that I’m more than 100% prepared to face Juan Manuel. I’m not intimidated by anybody, including
the public. I’ll just do my job against the Mexican.”
On the other hand, Juan the ‘Dinamita’, while sharing his thoughts and recalling his feud with Manny Pacquiao said, “Everyone knows over and over that I won all three fights with Pacquiao, but now more than ever I want the fourth fight with him and I have
the full backing of Zanfer and Fernando Beltran to achieve this, but first I have to defeat the Ukrainian.”
Juan is a three-time world champion and his win against Fedchenko will make him the four-time world champion in four different divisions. The bout will be an exciting one since Fedchenko has decided to make the night as tougher as possible for one of the
best pounder in sport of boxing, Juan, who is already in his prime and is eye-balling Manny for the fourth time.
