Serie A Match Report-http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan vs. A.S Roma- Part 1
The two teams came into this game on the back of defeats in their opening league fixtures and poor European runs. Misery compiled for both of them as they played a goalless draw at the San Siro on Saturday, September, 18th,
2011.
Gasperini used a third new system in as many games, as he fielded his team under a 3-5-2 formation. Three changes were made to the starting line-up from the 4-3 defeat at the hands of Palermo last weekend. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799, Andrea
Ranocchia and Joel Obi replaced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-c18993 and Mauro Zarate in the starting line-up.
On the other hand, Roma manager, Luis Enrique, made wholesale changes to his team from the 2-1 defeat to Cagliari last weekend. Simon Kjaer and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Borini-c13163 were handed their first league starts in a 4-3-3 formation for the visitors.
The game got off to a slow start as both teams took a cautious approach in the opening exchanges. The first real chance of the game came in the 11th minute when Julio Cesar pulled off a smart low save from Pablo Osvaldo’s
well taken strike.
Few minutes later, Roma dealt a huge blow as their goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucio-c22597’s right boot
hit Stekelenburg on the head. The shot-stopper was stretchered off in an unconscious state and was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bogdan-Lobont-c7753 in the 18th minute.
The injury to their goalkeeper did not put the visitors off as they continued to attack. Borini’s wonderful low cross was met by a sliding clearance from Lucio immediately after the resumption from Stekelenburg injury.
The hosts witnessed their first real goal-scoring chance in the 21st minute of the game; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Forlan’s fierce effort from a 30-yard free-kick was brilliantly saved by Lobont. The Romanian was called into action again
a minute later, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166 skipped past the defender too easily and his near post effort forced the goalkeeper into making a smart save.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julio-Cesar-c19961 played a lovely long ball, which found Milito,
who linked beautiful with Forlan and Nagatomo before the Japanese international’s tame effort flew over the bar.
Neither of the two teams created any further goal-scoring opportunities as the referee blew his whistle for the half-time. Both teams played on equal footing and were wasteful in-front of the goal. Stekelenburg’s horrific injury
was the main highlight of the half.
