Serie A Match Report-Inter Milan vs. A.S Roma- Part 2
Article continued from Part 1 of the story....
The visitors started the second half in a bright fashion as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940 played a superb through ball for the former Espanyol star but he could not connect the
shot and Cesar came off his line to gather the ball.
A minute later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rodrigo-Taddei-c31490, had a wonderful opportunity to put the visitors front. The Brazilian found himself in plenty of space outside the Inter penalty area but his thunder strike sailed over the bar.
The game continued with the same momentum but this time the hosts had a chance to open the scoring. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-c36794 Sneijder’s in-swinging cross from a free-kick was connected by Milito at the near post but the Argentine’s header whistled
past the post from few inches. That was probably the best chance of the game so far!
The Giallorossi continued to threaten as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miralem-Pjanic-c25984 found himself in acres of space but he failed to keep his shot down and it sailed into the top half of the crowd.
Sanity returned to proceedings after a quick fiery start to the second half, as both teams made a change just before the hour mark. Mauro Zarate replaced Milito for Inter, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Pizarro-c10581.
Inter made another change minutes later, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-c18993 replaced Obi, who had a poor game in the midfield.
Substitute, Zarate, almost immediately announced himself with a brilliant solo-effort in the 65th minute. The Argentine steamed past two Roma defenders before aiming a shot at goal which narrowly went wide of the post.
Great effort from the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 star!
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 continued to dominate the proceedings as they came viciously close to scoring once again. Forlan found Sneijder in a clear position but Lobont once again pulled off a stunning save to deny the Dutch international.
The Giallorossi started to lose their focus in the middle period of the second half as they were sloppy in possession and controlling their territory. The hosts continued to threaten as Forlan and Zarate linked up brilliantly in
the 77th minute but the Uruguayan international’s powerful left-footed strike missed the upright by few centimetres.
Both teams made another change, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sulley-Muntari-c34312 came on for Forlan. The San Siro crowd were not impressed by Gasperini’s decision to substitute the former Atletico Madrid
star.
Kjaer picked up a yellow card on his league debut in the 83rd minute, as he tripped Sneijder with a poor tackle just outside the box.
The Nerazzurri were left frustrated as their attackers were really disappointing with their final delivery despite creating a huge number of chances. Minutes before the final whistle, a controversial incident took place as Sneijder
had a huge shout for a penalty turned down after he was tripped by Lobont inside the penalty area. The game finished stalemate as the two teams failed to find the back of the net.
