Serie A: Midfielder of the season so far – Part 2
Jeremy Menez
AS Roma – not the richest of clubs by any means – spend a hefty 10.5 million pounds for the attacker in 2008. Luciano Spalleti sanctioned the signing then on the back of some inspired performances Menez delivered
for AS Monaco.
Menez’s Gilarossi adventures started in worst possible manner as he failed to make any sort of impact with the Capital club. Luciano Spalletti preferred http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rodrigo-Taddei-c31490 on the wings and the French
youngster was made to feed on the scraps.
Spalletti left the club last season after Roma made a disastrous start to the campaign and Claudio Ranieri was brought in. The first six months under Ranieri were little different as Menez had was often criticised
for his lackadaisical efforts by none other than Ranieri himself.
With new season however came a new lease of life. Menez was deployed as a trequartista by Ranieri and the moved has paid rich dividends. The youngster may not be a playmaker ala http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Totti-c13940 but his sizzling
pace and the knack to drift to the wings often stretches the opposition defences to the limit. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 in equal measures.
Kevin-Prince Boateng
Genoa bought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Prince-Boateng-c20792 for a reported 5 million pounds earlier in the summer only to loan him out to AC Milan in a bizarre fashion. Genoa president Enrico Preziosi claims Prince would not have made
the Genoa first team. AC Milan are league leaders at the half way point while Genoa languish eleventh in the League and struggle for consistency. We all know who is having the last laugh now.
Many expected the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 star to be a bit player with the Rossoneri. Instead, the 23 year old has managed to surprise everyone by racking up 15 league appearances. Massimiliano Allegri initially played the box-to-box
player in centre of midfield in his 4-3-3 formation. While Rossoneri failed to strike any balance, Prince was one of the standout performers. Prince has been played as a trequartista in recent games and much to surprise of many, Boateng has been a real find
in the position; scoring two goals while bringing bundles of energy to a usually static Milan midfield.
Marek Hamsik
Gone are the days when Marek Hamsik was called a prodigy and one for the future. Over the course of last season, Hamsik has established himself as a real star. One can say that the player has come of age over
the summers as his performances at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 2010 do not deserve anything less.
The Slovakian has been consistently world class for the last couple of years and this season is no exception. 7 goals from 17 appearances and numerous assists in the league, not to forget the Solvakian is not
even a forward. It can’t get better than this really.
SSC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are second in the league; 3 points off the summit, with 17 round of football played and should the Slovakian manage to lead his side in the manner we all have come to expect of him, Napoli will represent
Calcio in the next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Verdict
The award must go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hernanes-c16150 for the way he has turned around the Aquile. From relegation battlers to Scudetto hopefuls in just six months, Aquile have Eduardo Reja and Hernanes to thank for six sensational
months.
