Serie A News – Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti appreciates his team’s effort
Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti, has acknowledged the efforts of his team in the UEFA Champions League. Moratti thanked his squad publically on the club’s official website, appreciating the show they put up for all the fans including him.
The club owner has complimented his squad saying that he has strong faith in his players and that he is optimistic for the future. His statement on the website read:
“Today I want to thank my team and all the players who in recent years, including this one, have brought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 fans like me so much joy and success to be proud of. Certain we will rediscover the strength and quality we know to reach prestigious objectives
that await us this year, I am convinced that along with the fans, the Coach and the squad we will together be able to celebrate again.”
The Nerazzurri were the best team in Europe last season as they managed to secure the Treble; Coppa Italia, Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, along with the Italian Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. This term, the men in the black and blue jerseys
were had the same aspirations but their dream was shattered after losing 7-3 on aggregate to Schalke 04 in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Leonardo’s men are currently five points behind the league leaders, AC Milan, with just six games remaining in the Serie A. They are also in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia where they will take on AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 on April 19, 2011. While a domestic double is
still within reach, the Nerazzurri have received slack for a troubled defence. Critics and experts believe that the Inter defence needs a total revamp after the humiliation in the Champions League.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314, has condemned all those who think that Inter need changes at the back, calling the comments absurd and unnecessary. Zanetti, responding to all the criticism and suggestions, said:
“We will find the right fuel to keep us going from here to the end of the season, even if lately we had to put a lot of effort in. The UCL elimination upset us, but it is absurd to doubt this team.”
Zanetti also said that the knock-out was upsetting for him and his team but this will not stop them from defending the remaining two titles.
