Serie A News: Inter Milan’s forward Samuel Eto'o the beacon for Nerrazzuri - Part 2
In the recent past the Palermo manager had indeed called in some experts to talk and increase the level motivation for football that has decreased over time. There are a couple of new faces in the Palermo team and coach Rossi has
at last decided that the best strategy for him now to play will be to deploy attacking tactics and take the battle to the Nerazzurri and for that to happen they will have to block their star striker Samuel Eto’o to do that.
Nevertheless despite the blunders it was Inter Milan that lost more chances in scoring. Earlier in the half, Milito was about to break the deadlock but his shot was blocked wisely by a defender.
After him it was Eto’o who initiated the scoring and assisting process. After Eto’o’s goal the Cameroonian player went on to assist the second goal but no one was able to finish. Still the credit goes to the Palermo defenders who
nearly always were present in the nick of time to avoid a major disaster.
Following that two more shots came from Inter Milan but again no one was able to utilize them. The hosts over all were impressive despite the lack of spark to create a goal.
The hosts then went ahead with their first real effort of the game and were successful wiith a goal as debutant Ilicic was exuberant in scoring.
The goal happened when Ilicic initiated a run that was perceived by Javier Pastore. The run made by the forward was pretty good which resulted in the goal keeper Julio Cesar being stunned from the attack by the Slovenian forward.
Inter Milan had a couple of chances to gain the lead in the finishing moments of the first half but all went in futility. It was Milito and Dejan Stankovic that were frustrated, and as a result that ended them having a brief tussle
with Salvatore Sirigu.
The start of the Black and Blues in the second half however gave a very different picture in comparison to the game play that was shown in the beginning. Milito was handed yet another chance to score but he decided to cross the
ball which travelled to Goran Pandev.
The 62nd minute cross was low and therefore allotted a chance for the hosts to regain control. But sadly even though the first goal came from Palermo, Inter Milan had a strong enough team that completely changed the
swing of the game and this was even more surprising as the Nerazzurri were not playing at home.
Soon after the first goal Eto'o got rid of Munoz on the way to score another as he calmly placed the ball past Sirigu in the far corner.
Next, Palermo had a chance to take the lead as Pastore missed a one on one opportunity against the goal keeper Julio Cesar. Stankovic also performed beautifully along with Maicon.
Now the defending champions are in an excellent position to win the Serie A title.
