Serie A Preview: AS Roma – CFC Genoa (Part 1)
This match will be played at Stadio Olimpico in Rome. AS Roma, the home side is in complete disarray. The club is going in a significant loss and desperately looking for buyers, the captain has fallen out with the coach and the results for the team have
been a disaster. The Roman ultras, the Curva Sud, have come out to defend the team and the Gilarossi faithful will be in full voice. The atmosphere inside the stadium will be a spectacle worth experiencing.
‘Do or Die’ for Ranieri

AS Roma has been the true surprise package of the season so far but mind you it hasn’t been a pleasant one. The Capital City giants were expected to Challenge the Likes of Internazionale and AC Milan for the Scudetto at the start of the season. But as things
turned out, the club is languishing in the relegation zone after gathering just 5 points from their opening six matches; 8 pints off the league leaders and fierce rivals SS Lazio.
Roma’s last outing in the Serie A was against Napoli – a match that ended in 2 – 0 defeat. As if the club’s off pitch financial troubles and poor form weren’t enough, Gilarossi talisman and skipper Francesco Totti has fallen out with the manager. Er Pupone
is reportedly far from happy with the defensive approach Ranieri has taken on numerous occasions in the season.
Last week, Totti came out in the press and declared his intention to leave the club if the hierarchy indeed thinks he’s the chief source of the club’s poor form. The news must have been a shock to most Gilarossi fans as the former International has been
with the club ever since he made his professional debut as a sixteen year old boy.
Both Ranieri and Totti have moved on ever since and tried to patch things up. Ranieri however will know that another poor result and he will get his packing orders.

Rossoblu looking to gain momentum

Genoa started the season with Champions League spot ambitions. Their form however has been far from impressive. Despite spending heavily in the transfer market, the club has failed to achieve the desired results. Luckily for the Rossoblu, their poor form was
also matched by most Champions League hopefuls in the league.
Genoa currently stands 10th in the league with eight points from opening six matches. A victory in this fixture will take Genoa in to European contention. The club registered its second victory of the season so far in their last outing with a
2 – 1 win against AS Bari. Il Vecchio Balordo are not a strong side on their travels and a trip to Stadio Olimpico in Rome is never easy, however knowing that Roma is in shambles, Gian Piero Gasperini will be hopeful of landing a sucker punch on Gilarossi
revival.
