Serie A Preview: AS Roma - Inter Milan (Part 2)
Inter Milan
Inter have their faire share of injury concerns. Walter Samuel, arguably the best defender in the world last season, is out with an injury while Thiago Motta is a long-term causality. Legendary skipper Javier Zanetti was rested on the weekend, as a result,
he will feature from the start against Gilarossi.
Expected Formation
Inter dismantled Bari with a 4-2-3-1 formation and Benitez will go for more of the same. Ivan Cordoba is likely to replace Samuel in the heart of the defence. The Colombian ‘jack in the box’ will partner the Brazilian colossus that is Lucio. Maicon and Chivu
will be a handful down their respective flanks. Cambiasso, Muntari and Sneijder will make up a titanic midfield trio. Pandev and Eto’o will flank the lone striker Milito.
Probable line up
Julio Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Ivan Cordoba, Cristian Chivu, Sulley Ali Muntari, Esteban Cambiasso, Wesley Sneijder, Goran Pandev, Diego Milito, Samuel Eto’o.
Key Players
Julio Sergio
In the absence of Totti and De Rossi, Roma need their goalkeeper in supreme form. The Brazilian has been a lone bright spot so far in a dismal Roma campaign. The Roma defence has been in shambles this season and Julio shouldn’t expect much of a cover. Julio
Sergio will be bombarded by the Pandev-Milito-Eto’o trio and the task of stopping them from scoring rests on his tender shoulders.
Samuel Eto’o
The Cameroon international is in a Midas scoring touch. The forward has taken prolificacy to a whole new level with 12 goals in the last 8 appearances. Eto’o at times, has been a one man army for the Nerazzurri deciding the ties all by himself. The striker
is expected to terrorise a fragile Roma back line with his darting runs and explosive finishing.
Prediction
The two sides usually play high scoring matches with lots of chances at both ends. However, Roma’s form this season has been disastrous. The Inter machine will bulldoze the Romans in their own backyard. Inter Milan to conquer Stadio Olimpico with a 1-3 score
line.
