Serie A - US Palermo vs. Parma FC: Half time report (Part 2)
Part 1 of this report can be read here: http://www.senore.com/Serie-A-US-Palermo-vs-Parma-FC-Half-time-report-part-1-a47554
Parma had struggled much in the absence of Sebastian Giovinco and the diminutive playmaker was showing just what Ducali had been missing thus far this season with some juicy dribbles. On the half hour mark, the forward was at it again as he schooled Palermo
defenders and shot at the Rosanero goal only to see it getting cleared by Cesare Bovo.
Miccoli reacted in a perfect manner at the other end of the pitch as he tried an audacious overhead kick from a Rigoni knock down. The forward wasn’t accurate with his timing as his efforts flew over the bar. For all his efforts, Miccoli was playing too
central and Coach Delio Rossi decided to move the skipper to the left of the pitch in a tactical move that would give more room to Pastore and Ilicic.
With the clock ticking showing 35 minutes on the mark, Hernan Crespo showed some intelligent movement in the opposition third and teed up Angelo for a shot but the Argentine could only drag his shot wide off target. Palermo defence looked incapable of handling
the Ducali onslaught at their own hunting ground with only Miccoli being a bright spot for the home side.
With half time approaching and the clock reading 39 minutes, Miccoli linked up well with the onrushing Balzaretti and released Pastore into space with an intelligent pass but the Argentine’s curler did not trouble Mirante in Ducali goal.
Giovinco was having a field day against a poor Rosanero rearguard and he was at it again in the 41st minute. The lovely interplay between ‘Atomic Ant’ and Pisano delivered a cross for Hernan Crespo but Balzaretti did well to clear the danger.
With half time approaching, Pastore, Ilicic and Miccoli combined well in the Ducali box but Mirante was on alert and graciously cut Miccoli’s supply short with a simple save at his near post. That proved to be the last play of the first half as referee Gabriel
Gava blew for the half time break.
