An insight into the most disappointing signings of the season, and the reasons that led them to be placed in the list.
1. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santiago-Silva-c32525 (Fiorentina)
The striker moved to the Serie A outfit following a deal worth €1.7 million, but he has struggled to find a regular spot at his new club.
The aggressor has made just three appearances for La Viola this season, scoring just one goal in the process. He recently expressed his frustration at not getting adequate playing time at the club. The Uruguayan announced that
he will be opening doors to a move to Argentinean side Velez, and is currently caught up in FIFA regulations that bar him from playing matches for more than two clubs in one season.
Silva brought in a lot of promise with his move to Fiorentina, but the giant disappointment has been one of the major reasons of the Viola’s fall from grace in the ongoing season.
2. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Taye-Taiwo-c34728 (AC Milan)
The Nigerian was signed from Marseille in 2011, and made his debut for the new club against Cesena, which his team eventually won 1-0.
Since his move, the player has made just four appearances for his team, and has been disgruntled by the lack of action that has been provided to him at San Siro. During the campaign, he voiced his disagreements with the Diavolo
coach, stating that his stay at the San Siro outfit has brought him no pleasure at all.
He finally succumbed to his disappointments at the club, and moved to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 of Barclays Premiere League on loan from AC Milan.
3. Mauro Zarate (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan)
The striker was acquired by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 for a reported sum of €20 million, with a buyout clause of €60 million. However, the Argentinean was loaned out to Inter Milan at the start of the season, after he had a falling out with Biancazzurri
boss, Edy Reja.
However, the striker’s promise turned out to be a disappointment for the club that found itself in the heart of peril, with so many stars but no savoir. The aggressor could manage just two goals from the 22 appearances for his
team, and can be called one of the vital reasons for the Nerazzurri’s failures in the season. He was consistently given a chance in the playing eleven of the team, but only managed to accumulate more despair for them.
4. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Forlan (Inter Milan)
The striker received the award for the best player of the FIFA World Cup 2010, and the accolade is a testament to the player’s undoubtable quality as a player.
He scored 74 goals for his former club Atletico Madrid in a total of 134 league appearances. The former Manchester United star became the second player to receive the coveted Pichichi Trophy twice since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 in the
Spanish League.
The player moved to Nerazzurri shouldering some towering expectation of the fans and the club, but has never looked like supporting those hopes in the Italian league. Despite consecutive failures on part of his team, Forlan failed
to step up to the occasion for the Beneamata. The Uruguayan has scored just two goals in the 18 appearances for his team, this season. The club has announced an overhaul of the squad at the end of the ongoing campaign, and the player’s future at the club remains
under doubt.
