Serie A findings: Round 15 – What we learned from this week’s fixtures (Part 1)

Serie A round 15 is being played over four days for the first time in the season. The fixtures started on Friday with Lazio piling further misery on Rafa Benitez’s Inter Milan. On Saturday, AC Milan and AS Roma played their respective matches while six other
games were played on Sunday. US Palermo and SSC Napoli will go head-to-head tonight in what promises to be an entertaining affair.
Round 15 provided plenty of action since besides Roma-Chievo, all games had a winner. Goals were scored all around which is a rarity in the Italian game. Milan maintained their lead at the top with a comfortable 3 – 0 victory over a struggling Brescia. SS
Lazio and Juventus kept up the pressure on the league leaders with victories as the two sides rank second and third respectively.
On the opposite end of the table, Bresica, Lecce and Bari continue to struggle as the rest of the teams have started distancing themselves from the bottom three.
The games left us with some talking points and Bettor.com brings forth an analysis to its readers.
Robinho finding his feet once more
The talented Brazilian has limitless potential; there is no doubt about that. However, Robinho has been unable to cement a regular place with the club teams he has played for. The mercurial Brazilian left Real Madrid on a bad note as a move to English Premier
League side Chelsea FC beckoned but Manchester City stole the show in the end as Robinho became one of the most expensive transfers in Premier League history. Robinho struggled with his form for much of his stay and the club was forced to loan out the player
to Santos in the Brazilian Serie A. A good spell in his native country coupled with a decent world cup prompted Milan to approach the player.
Silvio Berlusconi shelled a reported 17 million Euros for the forward’s services only to see the players start his latest adventure in a poor manner. A player who thrives under confidence much like his fellow samba stars, Robinho struggled to make an impact
initially as many questioned his signing. However, Robinho has slowly found his long last groove at San Siro. The mazy dribbles and lung bursting runs are back in his game aling with a new sense of confidence. The player now looks settled and is slowly rediscovering
the form that earned him the tag ‘the next big thing from Brazil’. Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani have pulled off a masterstroke with this coup and should Robinho continue to grow, there is every reason for AC Milan to challenge for multiple honours.
Cesena, AS Bari and US Lecce are the relegation favourites
The aforementioned sides were given a whipping over the weekend by superior Serie A sides. While Bari were thumped away from home by Sampdoria, Lecce and Cesena were humiliated in their own backyards as both teams lost by a two goal margin.
Italian Serie A is competitive and fights for places will go to the wire and no one can argue against that. However, these three teams have been the least impressive teams in the bottom half of the league. Granted, Brescia is level on points with Cesena
and Lecce but the likes of Alessandro Diamanti and Andrea Caracciolo have enough potential to steer Biancoazzurri clear of the bottom three.
