Serie A round 17 was played on the weekend. The competitive nature of Serie A was on display yet again as some truly mouth-watering games were played. There were goals, performances and controversy as Serie A failed to disappoint.
The biggest fixture of the week was AS Roma’s visit to San Siro where they locked horns against league-leaders AC Milan. In spite of Rossoneri dominating possession and goal-scoring opportunities, Romans emerged victorious thanks to a Marco Borriello goal
– on loan from AC Milan ironically – midway through the second half. Elsewhere, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw by ChievoVerona while Champions League hopefuls; SS Lazio and SSC Napoli registered hard-fought victories.
Only eight games were played over the weekend as Inter Milan – Fiorentina was rescheduled in the wake of Nerazzurri’s Club world club matches while Genoa derby (UC Sampdoria – CFC Genoa) was postponed due to bad weather.

Roma are still not Scudetto contenders, not yet at least
Giallorossi might have won the mouth-watering tie against AC Milan on the weekend but it was far from an ideal performance. Don’t let the Giallorossi faithful and the media fool you. AC Milan were a victim of their profligacy rather Lupi brilliance. Had
Rossoneri taken advantage of a 10 minute http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrea-Pirlo-c5702 cameo, they would have been 2-0 up inside the first ten minutes.
However, things did not turn out for the best and AC Milan missed at least four clear goal-scoring opportunities and Giallorossi maid Milan pay dearly. Credit to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Borriello-c23672 and company for taking up the only clear goal-scoring opportunity they had.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, Juventus or even AC Milan on a different day, will punish them heavily. On a positive note however, Giallorossi defence was superb and the way Juan played the offside trap
was a treat to watch. Should Roma keep the defence watertight and be more adventurous attack, they can be a direct threat to Milan for the Scudetto honours.
Lazio continue to soar high
SS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-c9491
Zapata own goal, their ability to eke out results against smaller teams has kept them in the title chase and Aquile should be considered title contenders now.
Eduardo Reja’s men have maintained the momentum going into whttp://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hernanes-c16150 from Sao Paolo has made all the difference and the playmaker has arguably
been the best player in the Serie A thus far. The Brazilian was on song yet again on the weekend and with Mauro Zarate slowly rediscovering his best form, Aquile will be a force to reckon in the closing stages of the campaign.
