Serie A findings Round 6 – What we learned from this week’s fixtures
Despite boasting of some mouth-watering fixtures, Serie A this week was a tad disappointing. The much hyped Inter Milan-Juventus derby failed to live up to expectations as the two giants could only muster a scoreless draw. AS Roma are now officially in a
turmoil while Milan is slowly finding its feet again. However, there were certain observations made during the match and bettor.com would like to share them.
Andrea Pirlo is slowly rediscovering his golden form
AC Milan won by a slender 1 – 0 margin against a disappointing Parma. Many would have thought Ibra would be the goal scorer but nay! It was the forgotten man from the midfield, Andrea Pirlo, who scored a truly sensational goal. The diminutive magician was
afforded the space in the midfield and the maestro let fly a stunning drive from 35 yards out that dipped just in time to hit the right top corner. It was not just his strike that was sensational; the playmaker was frighteningly accurate with his passing.
The World Cup winner has been slowly rediscovering the form that made him the best midfielder in the world in 2006. A born again Pirlo can only be good news for both the Rossoneri and the Azzurri.
SS Lazio has been the best Serie A team so far
Lazio appear to be a completely different side from the horrible Aquilotti we witnessed last season. No doubt the new arrival, Hernanes, has played a huge role in their resurgence, but it is the brilliance of the coach Eduardo Reja that has brought the glory
back to the blue half of Rome. If Reja can manage to keep horror President Claudio Lotito out of his squad intrusions, there is no reason for Lazio to not win a UEFA Champions league spot come the end of season.
Roma are officially a disaster
AS Roma has been the surprise package of the season so far and it hasn’t been a pleasant surprise at all. With a ‘Scudetto runners’ tag hanging on them, much was expected from a reinforced Gilarossi squad. Roma however, disappointed their fans beyond imagination.
With just one victory from the opening six matches, Roma sit second from bottom. On current form, Roma will fail to survive the Serie A, let alone win the Scudetto. Drastic measures must be taken by the club hierarchy or the season will end in a complete disaster.

Palermo has managed to sign a potential world beater yet again
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has made a habit of signing at least one unknown potential world class player and apparently he has done it again. Josip Ilicic was the man of the match on day six with a truly sensational strike. Ilicic was signed from
NK Maribor; an unknown club from Slovenia. At just 22 years of age, the attacking midfielder is a supreme talent. The Pastore-Ilicic partnership is the one to look out for this season. Ilicic has already scored 3 league goals from just 5 appearances and departure
of Edinson Cavani has already been forgotten.
Bianconeri on road to recovery
Juventus has had a mixed start to their Serie A campaign. The club has managed some impressive results but such good showings have been only in patches. Against an in-form Inter Milan side, the Bianconeri managed a draw. Keeping in mind the fact that Juventus
was playing away from home at San Siro, it wasn’t a bad result at all. The match was equally balanced and the new Juventus signing Krasic was one of the best players in the first half. Two things were evident from the Bianconeri display - firstly, Juventus
must sign a world class left winger to match Krasic’s ability on the right. Secondly, Alberto Aquilani has a huge part to play in a potential Bianconeri revival. The former Roma midfielder was a passing machine and much of the Juventus’ moves went through
him. Juventus has finally found the midfield maestro it was looking for, however, whether Aqua man stays fit for the entire season is a different question all together.
