Serie A match report: A.C Milan 1-1 Udinese: Part 1
Champions, A.C Milan’s winless streak continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese in a crunch Serie A encounter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
Mr. consistent, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 opened the scoring for the visitors but a goal from Stephan El-Shaarawy on his home debut for Milan denied the Bianconeri from taking all three points.
Massimiliano Allegri made only one change to the starting line-up from the 3-1 defeat to Napoli over the weekend. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-Bonera-c10109 in the left full-back role.
On the other hand, Francesco Guidolin made two changes to his team from the 2-0 win over Fiorentina recently. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-Pasquale-c14997 in a 4-4-2 setup.
The game got off to a lively start as both teams looked to make early inroads. The visitors tried to set the opposition in the counter attacking trap, which also led to their demise against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. The hosts had the first real
goal scoring opportunity of the game in the 8th minute; http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275 but the Dutchman’s effort from outside the box was blocked by the visiting defenders.
Neither of the two keepers were tested in the opening 15 minutes of the game as Zambrotta picked up the first yellow card of the evening for a foul on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Torje-c14344.
Minutes later, the Rossoneri suffered a body blow as their long injury list saw Pato added to it. The Brazilian pulled up a hamstring muscle and had to be substituted by El-Shaarawy in the 21st minute.
Immediately after the resumption from Pato’s injury, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maurizio-Domizzi-c24955, got himself in the books as he was handed a yellow card for hauling down Antonio Cassano.
Both teams looked frustrated in the build-up as both of them lacked quality ball in the final third. A huge howler from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Abbiati-c9046 handed the visitors with a lead in the 29th minute of the game. Torje swung a
routine cross from the left flank but the Milan goalkeeper made mess of it and Di Natale prodded home from close range to make it 1-0 for the Zebrette.
The Rossoneri went on the offensive immediately after conceding as Cassano and El-Shaarawy made hash of the chances received.
Udinese had a wonderful opportunity to double their advantage as Armero made a lovely run down the left flank and struck a fierce shot towards the bottom corner but Abbiati made a terrific save to parry the ball away to safety.
Few minutes later, Milan could have equalised from a free kick from a dangerous position. Clarence Seedorf rocketed a fierce shot from the set piece but unfortunately for him, his shot rattled against the cross bar to deny the
hosts.
Seedorf’s effort was the last highlight of the game as Milan went into the second half hoping to avoid second consecutive defeat.
