Question:

Series Predictions: Detroit Red Wings v.s Pittsburgh Penguins? Octopi won't fly?

NHL commissioner Garry Bettman stated that anyone who threw an octopi on the ice would recieve a $10,000 fine. He claims that twirling and hurling the octopi is a safety hazard.

Now on to the seires. With Franzen out for game, I look for Pittsburgh to make game 1 close, and maybe even win it. Detroit hasn't had Franzen in the line-up since game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, and Detroit struggled to put Dallas away. Detroit adjusted their lines well and ended up winning descisively in game 6.

Philadelphia was not really much of a match-up for Pittsburgh and were scortched in game 5 by 6 goals. The Penguins are fast and high powered, and their defense is over-looked.

I think Pittsburgh takes this series in 7 games, maybe even 6.

What are your thoughts/predictions?

  1. Wings in six!  Experience will win out.  Next year is Pittsburgs year.  Look up the 83' finals.

  2. I thought he just said he would fine the guy that twirled the octopus over his head after he picked it up from the ice. I do not think he would be able to identify the thrower.........

I may be wrong, but you will probably see octopus on the ice .....especially when Detroit wins the series........

  3. I say Pittsburgh in six but it won't shock me if it goes seven.  The people predicting it in 4 or 5 don't know what they are talking about.

  4. DEtroit with a two game lead, franzen back, kronwell scaring pittsbourgh, osgood playing going nuts ane being boss, fleury sucking. the series is over in 5

  5. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are the two best forwards in the game today. Not only offensively but defensively. They will shut down Crosby's line.

Then we can talk about the captain Lidstrom the best defense men to play.

Wings in 5 only after loosing game 4.

  6. Pens in 6

They'll come out strong tonight and never look  back!!

  7. Anyone who does it will get money volunteered from fans to help pay the fine.

Wings in 6, with 2 OT games

  8. Uhh, they didn't struggle to close out the series.  They lost two close games... the first, well we all know about the Homer "no-goal", the second... Detroit played better than Dallas except for Marty Turco.  If you call that struggling, then the Pens struggled to because they lost 4-2 in a game.  Remember, Dallas was a GREAT team, you probably don't think so, but that is because you wouldn't know a good team if it hit you in the face.

You act as though the Wings don't belong here... "Zetterberg and Datsyuk will need to continue to play extremely well in order for this series to go to 7 games."

They will play extremely well and that is why the Wings will dispose of the Pens in 5 games.  These Pens will not be able to win either of the first two games in Detroit.  Everyone knows how high powered the Pens are, but soon you will find out that the Wings dictate games.  Sure every team has an off game or two, but if both teams play to their potentials, this will be a Detroit victory.

  9. wings in 6

  10. @CRocket

Last 3 games against Dallas?  That first loss is credited to the no-goal then the allowed goal, both in Dallas' favor.  The second loss was pretty darn close.  That third game they looked weak?  I think they won 4-1... that sure is weak.

  11. I believe youre right about pittsburgh winning in 6 or 7. Detroit was looking really good until their last 3 games against the Stars. It's gonna be a great game though.
