Series against New York Yankees leaves many lessons for Washington Nationals-MLB Update

For a club which is still at a nascent stage of development, playing against the New York Yankees under the close watch of everyone was the great experience. Although the Washington Nationals were routed through and through, it was a rare opportunity for
them where they had to grapple with such hype and media spotlight.
Washington entered the season with an aim to deliver one of their best performances as a club. The fact they possessed powerful arms and great sluggers in the form of Adam LaRoche, their confidence was not misplaced.
Maintaining top position in the National League East Division table is a reflection of the kind of improvements they have made as a club. From the current standpoint, the Nationals are well-poised to land in the play-offs and then go on to embrace heights
in the season.
Longer the Nationals stay in contention for achieving something substantial in the season, more high profile games and jam-packed stadiums will be witnessed. That will be the time when the Nationals will be tested beyond their baseball talent.
How to handle pressure and shred a sea of noises being hurled from their back by spectators are the factors that are pivotal for ultimate success of the team.
Therefore, three straight losses against the Yankees can never mean that the club did not have positives coming about. Who knows the experience is going to help them when they are into the play-offs.
For crunch games that the club have yet to play, more probably they will acclimatise to the situation quickly now.
Nationals’ first baseman Adam LaRoche understands as to how these three games will be benefiting the club for upcoming games.
“I think that’s the one good thing that came [out of] this weekend,” said Adam LaRoche. “That’s about as close to a playoff atmosphere as you’re going to get — although it can feel like a road game at times [with all the Yankees fans], and I’m sure they
get that wherever they go, other than Boston.”
What matters the most for Nationals at the moment is emptying the mind from negative feelings after being swept and focus on the task at-hand.
