Series of Ana Ivanovic’s failures in 2012 – Tennis News
No chance for the 12th ranked Serb to claim the number one spot again in her professional career; absolutely no chance. She is having dismal run of form and especially considering her recent battering at the hands of
the Roberta Vinci, no one will expect her to even break into the Top-10 players of the world again. She was thumped to the first ever double bagel of her career and nothing can be worse than being treated like that by an inferior ranked player. It is a worst
feeling to be honest!
Ivanovic has not clinched any title this season. She hasn’t even reached the final of any tournament at all. Such a poor record for someone who was recognized as the best players in the world. She is the highest ranked player in
Serbia and seeing the top ranked player being battered in that fashion is the worst feeling for a tennis fanatic especially when the player is such hot looking as Ivanovic.
She commenced her season at Brisbane International and failed to clear the second round of the event. She lost in the opening clash at Apia Sydney International. She played well in the Australian Open at Melbourne; reaching the
fourth round and falling apart at the hands of the superior seeded player. However, her performance in Qatar Ladies Open was miserable as she was ousted in the second round of the tournament.
Former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, ended her run at the Dubai Duty Free Championships in the quarter-final and the unfortunate injury forced her out of the BNP Paribas Open competition in the semi-final stage. Fourth
round run at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami wasn’t good enough for the Serb to prove her worth at all. She is much better than that but a sudden dip in her form at the start of the season seems to be an eternal depletion as she has unable to extract anything
at all in 2012.
One round at Stuttgart and three stages in Madrid Open coupled with three in Rome show her lack of form and her inability to maintain consistency. She survived three rounds at French Open and fourth at Wimbledon. Recently, she
was ousted by the fellow former world number one, Kim Clijsters, in the third round at London Olympics and now the opening set loss at Rogers Cup sums up the whole disappointed performance of Ivanovic.
It seems like we will never see her back on the top of the rankings again, ever.
