Question:

Serious Hair Help Needed!?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I have really thick, curly, frizzy, unmanagable hair, and have tried loads of creams and stuff to make my hair go straight and none work!

So does anyone know if any shampoos/conditioners/creams actually work?

Or, how much does it cost to get a straight perm?

And is there an age limit for it or something?

Or if you have any tips for managing my hair?

Thankyou !! :D

  1. Try "Precise No-Lye Relaxer".

Precise is the brand name.  You also will need neutralizer shampoo, which is sold seperately.

You mix a liquid and a cream that comes in the Precise box, then stir them up, then apply it to your hair, combing it through with a fine toothed comb.  Once you've applied the cream to all of your hair, and it is combed straight, let it sit for 10 - 15 more minutes.  Then you wash it out; first rinse with water, then the shampoo (3 or 4 times), then normal shampoo, then conditioner.

You CANNOT let the Precise mixture touch any of your skin (a little on your fingers wont kill you though).  It is sold to anyone, but recommended only for professionals to use.

I use it on my own hair, and have no problems.  Maybe have a friend do it for you the first few times.  It would cost $50 - $100 to have done in a salon.

  2. You can have your hair chemically straightened, it will be straight forever, don't know how much it costs though.

    Creams/hampoos/conditioners/ are c**p,

Try blow drying your hair straight

    Speak to your hairdresser

  3. Why change your hair when you can just work WITH it?

You can get your hair thinned, where the hairdresser cuts it in a certain way, so you can pretty much get hair of the weight taken off.

DOnt try Pantene. It very thinnly coats each individual hair in Silicone (Its like a hardware glue!) to smooth it over. If you dont use it for a while, the silicone wears off and makes theh air worse than it was before. You hair will not be able to dye properly either, because the hair dye wont penetrate through the silicone.

I really like Gernier Fructis shampoo and conditioner.

Dont wash you hair often if you have frizzy, boofy or curply hair. My hair is natually curly, and i wouldnt even THINK about getting a perm. Theres a very high chance of it making the hair fall out, and literally making you go bald. I swear to God im not kidding.

Try a curling balm, and apply it with your fingertips in LAYERS.

Talk to your hairdresser, and make sure to ask about the CONS of a straight perm. They most likely wont tell you that your hair will fall out, because they just want the money. Actually, they probably wont tell you that it could make your hair fall out. IN CLUMPS by the way. It alls out in bigh clumps and you go bald. Google it if you dont believe me. Also, I would reccomend seeing a hair stylist. it'll most likely be very pricey, but they will give you a stackload of advice about hairuts, styles and styling tips.

Good luck, and im positive that as soon as you've gotten the hang of it, you wont have any more problems dealing with unmanageable hair!

  5. This sounds exactly like my hair.

I've tried millions of shampoos, straightening balms, sprays etc etc and my hair stays the same.

The only thing that actually straightens my hair and keeps it fairly straight are GHD hair straighteners. I've used them every day for years now and they do work. I've also tried various different types of straighteners such as  babyliss etc but GHD's are by far the best i have come across.

Also a few years ago i had it chemically straightened, it looked great but as soon as i washed it it basically went back to how it was.

I'm not sure about a straight perm but it could work and may be worth a try? I wouldnt think there would be an age limit but im not sure.

Finally, the tips i have for you is to have your hair thinned out alot when you have your hair cut if its naturally thick; my hair straightens the best with my GHD's the thinner it is.

Also, if you straighten your hair as soon as you have dryed it, it tends to straighten easier and when straightening your hair its always best to part your hair using a clip and straighten in sections, making sure you straighten the underneath parts of your hair.

    Well, hope this helps :D

  6. i have the same problem! i find the best thing is hot oil treatment, i think the best one i have tried is vo5 hot oil ( it comes in a little tube) which i got for 99p from Wilkinson's but you can get it from any store. leave an over night or leave in conditioner, or use products with coconut products in it. go to your hair dressers that recommend a good serum to leave in after washing (i use design line products). also, don't wash it too often, once or twice a week and don't use too much shampoo as it dries out hair.leave your hair to air dry as it isn't as damaging as hairdryers.

  7. The Garnier line is perfect for curly hair. If you are considering getting it perm-straight you are looking at around 200+ for a good salon. But if you think about it, tally up the money spent on the products and it'll equal about the same.

  8. perms or relaxers cost about $15-20.

  9. try spraying hair spray in a certain spot and then flat iron that spot then do the same thing all throughout your hair. this will only work if you have a good flat iron.

  10. 1)My friend has similar hair and she ties it back as tightly as she can...

2)try going to a party where everyone swims and then it is wet anyway!

    3) Lots of gel

  11. You should definitely try Biolage or Paul Mitchell Shampoos and conditioners. You can buy them from a regular hair salon. And the good thing about this stuff is that you don't need to put so much in your hair. You can use a dime size of it in your palm and apply it to your hair. Do not buy that cheap stuff (White Rain, V05, or etc). And do not buy anything that adds volume... it will make your hair look more poofy and frizzy.

  12. dont relax ur hair it destroys it believe me there are lots of ways to strain ur hair i have type 3b hair and i can get it silky straight so u can too just go to a salon and let them do it look at all the products they use and ask the lasy how to do it and u will b fine

  13. My hair is the exact same, all you need to do is wash it with any shampoo and conition it, the shampoo doesn't make no difference. Blow dry it thouroughly, it will go massive (mine does) but you must make sure it is dried properely because when you straighten it , it will just go frizzy again. when your hair is dry you need a bit of straightening syrum and rub it into your hair ( not too much though) next you need to clip your hair up leaving a small, thin section loose, this must not be too thick because it won't work either. You will need some straightners that go up to a high heat and brush through the loose hair and slowly straightening it, holding the straightners together tightly, if it isn't properely straight simply brush through it and do it again, once the section is straight, tie it loosely with a bobble and let another layer down doing the same, this does take time but it is worth it and if you do it properely it will stay straight for days so it won't damage your hair as much by straightening 24/7. It takes me about an hour- an hour and a half to straighten mine (nightmare) Is yours like this because it is natrually curly ?? That is why mine is like it

GHDs are the best straightners ever, i got some pink ones and they are amazing!! xx

  14. you could try straighting it.  maybe go to the hair salon and ask them how to make your hair straighter or get it done.

  15. Welcome to my life! lol

I got my hair permanently straightened 2 years ago. I went to a local hair place and they did a consultation to see how thick my hair was and how long...etc.

    The price was about $250.00

It lasted about 13 months. Towards the last few months I had to straighten some parts, mostly my bangs and my ends.

Now that it has worn off my hair is back to normal.

I used John Frieda-Weather Works. The shampoo, conditioner, and the serum. It COMPLETELY knocks my level of frizz down 50%.

Then I straighten it, and use BedHead-Control Freak.

After I straighten my hair I spray hair spray on my wide tooth comb and just comb it through.

I don't think there is an age limit for the perm straight. But if your under-egh-say 17 I would think that your mom or someone would have to be with you.

    GOOD LUCK!

  16. Hi!

I help ALOT of people with your hair type so try using a Tresemme Smooth and silky shampoo and conditioner! Also try there whole line of hair treatment things! There is some tips i could give:

    the hair "Dos"

    - Apply product when hair is freshly damp and blow-dry as soon as possible to get the smoothest texture.

    - Use a hairdryer with a nozzle attachment that will direct the flow of the hair onto a small section of your hair.

    - Use a medium round brush if you have mid-length to long hair, and a small round brush if you have shorter hair. Gently turn the brush as you dry each section of your hair to help with smoothing.

    the hair "Don'ts"

    - Don't use really large round brushes - they are difficult to maneuver. You want a medium or small brush to give you optimal smoothness and help you achieve a nice curl at the ends.

    - Whenever you flat iron your hair, don't take sections that are larger than the iron itself. If you use a 1" flat iron, separate sections of hair that are 1" in width for the best results.

    - Don't move the flat iron too quickly over your hair, and don't hold it in one place for too long either. Move the iron at a slow steady pace from root to tip to get silky smooth texture.

    XoXo

    Vanessa Good Luck!
