  1. If you live in the home with them YES you should be on their insurance.  My understanding is that once the insurance company finds out you are licensed they will require it and YES it's EXPENSIVE.  They might be eligible for discounts for good students, if you take drivers ed etc..  see what they offer for students..

  2. Yes, assuming you live in their house, you will need to be listed on their policy.   Yes, it will be expensive, how much depends on what coverage they have, and a bunch of other factors.

  3. Under the law, they are required to notify the ins. co. as soon as you become of age to operate the vehicle. Licensed or not. There are certain circumstances that may allow them to waiver you off, but if any accident arises from your negligence, then it wouldn't be covered. With a license, you automatically raised the premium by living there as a licensed driver.

  4. Your parents must list you as a driver on their vehicle policies. There is more than one way to do this (e.g. you as the primary driver on one vehicle), and your insurance agent will be able to help you determine the best way. The younger you are, the more expensive it will be. Males more than females.

  5. There are all good answers here.   But call your agent.

If you do not have your own car you can be listed as an occassional driver on their policy which cost less.  But it may depend on your state.

    Call your agent and ask.
