Serious Injuries on T.V Shows?...?

Shows like scrapheap challenge, wipeout, that hole in the wall show! etc, anything where there is real people contesting, has there been any bad injuries?, any court cases? etc?...

There used to be a show called Dog Eat Dog on NBC where they did crazy stunts like this.  Contestants had their ankles attached to a platform and were hung upside down and underwater.  One of the contestants had a problem--I don't remember the exact details, but it had something to do with his signal that he needed out wasn't noticed, but, bottom line, he passed out and suffered from brain damage that affected his short term memory and ability to hold a job.  He and his family tried to sue, but the network had his signature that waived liability for accident or injury, so he got nothing out of it but further legal bills.
