  1. NRL is the National Rugby League which is the big competition for clubs.  It's like the Super 14 or Heineken Cup in Rugby.

ARL is the Australian Rugby League which is the group that runs Rugby League in Australia.  They are responsible for all League in the country from little kids playing on Saturday mornings right up to the Kangaroo's.

The ARU is the Australian Rugby Union which is the Rugby equivalent of the ARL.

Yes there is a national rugby union league in Australia.  It is called the ARC, Australian Rugby Championship.  ARL,NRL,ARU,ARC... enough letters for you? lol

  2. Rugby (union) and Rugby League are two totally different codes. NRL is league, provincial league, ARU is rugby (union) and ARL is league also. There is also AFL . . . a whole other kettle of fish . . .

Yahoo!Xtra official rugby expert for Auckland. Ask me anything on Yahoo!Xtra answers.

  3. Well the main difference is that NRL and ARL are bodies associated with rugby league which is different to ARU which is the body that takes care of rugby union.
