I've started self harming again, and I'm really scared. I managed to stop about a month ago, by using pen to draw on my arm instead (heard its supposed to help). |t did for a bit. Now I've started cutting again, but on the bottom of my feet so my parents don't find out, coz they found out last time. Is this normal?/ What should I do I'm really scared. Please dont suggest counselling of dr's, not coz I'm worried bout it, its for other reasons.

  1. You sound very young, there is usually a reason for people doing this and the only way to get to the bottom of this is counselling. The doctor can help by recommending the right sort of councillor that will be right for you, they will not condemn you, they will just listen to you and get to bottom of why you do it, it will help you understand and stop. Do go please and god bless x

  2. O.K SELF HARMING is not normal, everytime you feel like your losing it, punch the pillow.

Meanwhile I suggest you go to the doctors and make sure he refers you to an counsellor too.

Also you need to figure out why you are self harming?

  3. You need to find someone you trust enough to talk to, a close friend or family member. Maybe a teacher your close to or the school nurse. Or if you don't want to talk to anyone can you put your finger on the reason you feel like cutting yourself? something happened that hurt you or made you feel like this? Try keeping a diary of how you feel before you want to do it, you should find that over time there's a trigger that sets you off. Then when you feel close to it, do some thing you enjoy to take your mind off of it. Phone a friend or walk the dog (if you have one). Even if its playing your favourite song and dancing around like a loon. when you feel ready go and see someone, doesn't have to be a doctor but someone who can help you overcome your worries and feelings.

  4. just stop... other then that go to the Doctors.....which you seem like you dont wanna do so..

  5. It's because you might feel a little like you don't fit in and or you are not meeting certain standards that family and friends put out there but remember that your body is a temple and you are very important, you should respect yourself and your physical being, treat yourself like you would someone you love so much, keep trying everyday to think like that and when you feel like you are going back, place yourself in public places, it'll kind of kill the mood hehe, but don't worry if you want to change, you will.

    the best of love...

  6. You need to throw away whatever you are using to cut yourself

  7. i have friends who have self-harmed in the past. they didn't get anywhere  to any solution and their life certainly didn't get any easier, no problems were solved.

you have to think of your life, what is really getting you down?

are the negatives you thrive on really just general every day problems you should try and get past?

talk to your close circle of people for them to tell you what they think, try talking to other people. communication is one of the best ways to get though your problems.

seeing drops of blood from your body........does it help?

does it make you any happier?

    i suppose not.

  8. No this is not normal. And the reason you hear people telling you that you need a doctor is b/c you tried to stop by yourself and it did not work. If you truly want help, go to the doctor. Having someone on Yahoo Answers tell you that you are fine will not help your situation. Good luck.

  9. Well you seem to know why your self harming and also how to stop it as your have before, so why not try the same technique again to see if this works, try talking to a close friend about whats bothering you.. I have heard ice helps.. Instead of self harming use ice instead of a sharp object, hope this helps

  10. It's not the norm to self harm - it is a condition which needs to be attended to .     I think it is very hard to stop on your own, but like any other disorder it needs will power and determination.  Only you can stop it , no one else can do that for you.  And if you are not prepared to be counselled then be strong and see how long you can go without doing it. Take each day as it comes.

I hope you get over this, it's a habit the same as an eating disorder or smoking or drinking.  Some people CAN stop on their own.  And others need help.  the help is there if you can't do it alone, so take that help.  it's important you stop now.

  11. Harming yourself is not normal and you should know this already. Only you can decide on what you want to do, Keep harming or find help. I have a friend who is young and bites herself hard until she draws blood. She is under a doctor's care, will be for a long time but she is improving every day. There is a reason people harm themselves, find out what your reason is.   Poppy

  12. Self harming people often have strong emotions, often good, but have can have strong negative emotions too. Unfortunately those strong negative emotions are not dealt with because it is too difficult or the person just does not know how. People hurt themselves physically to temporarially escape the mental pain. Unfortunately the act of it then makes more stress. Often people dont feel that they have good support to help them with difficult problems in their lives. Please please find some people to help you. I dont know your relationship with your parents but they should be the people to go to. Tell them you need help. The  short time of pain of having to tell them will be much better than it getting worse and worse over time. Please ask for help.
