alright so i've played club ball for 6 years

i can play and have played every position including setter...

my coach is using the varsity team as a threat

she tells me i have the best skills and that they don't want to loose me

but she says that if i don't play to my potential i won't be on varsity??

last time i checked volleyball was a team sport and you play as well as the team on the court...

im at a loss and have no idea what to do

i've been on varsity the last 2 years

there's been a lot of drama and A LOT of riding the bench.

i want to tryout cause i love the sport but don't know if it's worth it kinda get the feeling they don't want me on the team...

I know she's a coach in all but 8 months outta of the year i play club so i use their techniques she sat me all last year because i wouldn't use HER techniques but her techniques didn't make any since to me??

should i change my technique to get playing time or stick with what my club coach taught me because beleive me she thinks that your supposed to use two hands when tossing for the serve?? (non jump serve)

is she insane or is it just me?

  1. You have to learn to adapt to a new coach for the same sport.  Yeah it is way crazy and tough to get used to what they want, but that's how they coach and you have to respect that.

If it helps you any, my best friend plays D-1 college volleyball, and from watching her in high school and some college games, I can honestly say I 've never seen like 1 person serve with throwing the ball up with 2 hands, so you may want to get used to what the varsity coach is telling you.

She's just trying to make you better and it sounds like she knows you can be great.  But it seems like she feels that you don't respect her since your not serving the way she asks.  Try it her way, yeah its gonna suck getting used to a new serve, but who knows, maybe it'll work wonders for ya! :)

  2. you will have a teacher, coach or a college proffeser you will dislike, and one that will treat you unfair. <<its like a fact. wat you should do is talk to your coach about it, or go to a conselaour and tell them wats going on. I also think you should try to learn some of her techniques and use your own as well.

  3. Ugh, that is called an ego problem on her part.

Unfortunately, she is the Varsity coach that you have been dealt and has the final say. If possible, do what she wants when playing for her then revert to what feels comfortable to you when playing club.

Don't let her get you down!
