Question:

Serious diseases in men and women?

I was wondering if you could list me some diseases that may lead a person to be put into hospital.

It's for a story that I'm writing and the guy has to end up in hospital and I can't think of an interesting reason why.

It has to sound realistic though because the character is only 26 years old.

Another things is. What are the most common diseases that women get? (not any form of cancer please)

Thanks in advance to all of you who take the time to answer, I'm sure they'll be great.

=)

  1. At 26 a brain aneurysm or kidney infection would end you up in hospital.

Also experimenting with Viagra with an allergy might lead to a pretty uncomfortable hospital visit.

A common disease for a woman, MS, Lupus, polycystic ovaries.

  2. At that age - which is the healthiest of your life - the most common reason to go to hospital is for an accident. Then there are the 'usual things' like appendicitis but that doesn't sound that interesting.

    Gender specific problems :

Some young men at that age have to have a circumcision because of paraphimosis. Women's health is more complex but childbirth and the complications of that would certainly affect that age group.

Do you want them to recover?

  3. you could say the guy has Ebola which causes him to bleed out of every orophis on his body, and the girl could have osteoporosis which causes the bone marrow to decay and the bones to weaken and break easily.

  4. Something simple like a bacteria infection can be fatal!!!....

  5. Systemic lupus erythematosus, aka lupus? Very hard to diagnose, many many many symptoms. Can occur in anyone at any age. Research it.
