Serious problem, need help!?

I am worried about my Dad! My Grandpa committed suicide last year, he was a severely depressed person, whom I didn't know very well because he pushed everyone out of his life when I was very young.

Well, my Dad started showing symptoms of depression like 7 years ago, and is on anti depressants and he is on pain medication for a neck injury. For the past year or two, he is really acting crazy. He is starting to push people out of his life, for no reason he has anger towards people. A lot of anger. Enough that I think he might hurt someone possibly.

I am starting to suspect that he is bipolar, and maybe his Dad was too. Well, his doctor cut his pain medication in half, and he is trying to get the pain pills illegally. This is so not my Dad at all. He was a "goody two shoes" when I was growing up.

Well, what's really got me worried is that I found out that he bought a gun recently, and he carries it with him everywhere he goes! He was always the one against owning a gun, and would freak out if we ever went over someone's house when we were a kid that had a gun, even if it was under lock and key.

WTF is going on with my Dad? He is making comments that he understands why his father would want to kill himself, and scary things like that. I don't know what to do, if I try to talk to him about it, he will just get mad at me like everyone else, and not talk to me anymore. He lives by himself too, which makes it even worse. Please someone, has anyone else been through this, and what did you do? I don't want to get a phone call saying that my Dad killed himself.

  1. I am sorry to hear all this, but your dad may need serious help, no one can help you solve this problem on here, they can only give you their opinions. I think talking to a professional would be best. Is he in dept or something, whats causing him to be depressed?

  2. Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. It must be very difficult. You need to talk to a family member you can confide in and trust completely. Try talking to your mom and tell her how you feel. Your dad needs help and he should receive it as soon as possible. It does sound like he has bipolar disorder and it's very likely that it was inherited from your grandfather.

Everything's going to be okay. Just pray and stay calm. Talk to your mom. Don't bottle up your emotions. It'll make you go crazy!!

I wish you all the best and I'll keep you and your dad in my prayers! x
