Serious question about alcohol consumption

Why can't I take shots anymore without gagging.

So when I go out drinking with the guys I usually take shots of something relatively hard because I don't like alcoholic drinks and... it's a kind of 'get it over with' kind of thing ya know? Well anyway, usually I drink vodka and usually it's skyy because I'm cheap. One day I was taking shots at about 5pm and then sobered up and took more about 11pm but then when I tried to take the shots I gagged and start feeling like i was going to throw up, and I tried again since that night like a week later and the same thing happened. I was fine with the shots before but not anymore....?

  1. Did you get hella sick the last time you drank? That would be the number one reason in my book. Don't be a puss just throw it back like a man anyways.

  2. You're still thinking about what happened. Just try not to do that and before you know it you'll be able to shoot them again with no problems.

I know that seems too simple to be of any real help, but if you think about it, the only difference between doing shots at 5pm last week and this week is that you gagged on them at 11pm last week.

  3. Your body is going into the reject mode. Time to back off.

Actually, if you would like to try something that you can drink and enjoy that is alcoholic, try a Lambic.

These are spontaneously fermented drinks made in Belgium (the authentic ones). They are called beers, but they taste nothing like it as most are made with fruit (cherry, rasberry, currant or peach). The non-fruit lambic is called a Gueuze and tastes like a smoky lemonade.

All lambics are tart with just a little sweetness, so they are not cloying.

Lindeman's and Frank Boone are the most easily obtained brands. Stay away from Sam Adam's cranberry lambic. Its awful.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

  4. I hope this isn't a Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting waiting to happen. If this is your approach to drinking just to get drunk you will soon develop a taste for the Alcoholic beverage that suits your need to get drunk. I used to do this when I was young and finally developed a taste for rum and coke and it was all I would drink because it was all I could tolerate. I never liked the taste of any Alcoholic beverage but your system with finally adjust to one so you can satisfy the urge to get drunk. We are all different but you could someday find yourself in a situation where one drink will never be enough for you. I hope this doesn't happen. It could be just a phase of youth hopefully and you will learn to drink moderately one day. Good luck

  5. Your body is trying to tell you something. Listen and back off the shots. I actually developed an allergy to alcohol after years of hard partying and cant take a drink without a having a seizure.  My body said enough.  After several trips to the ER, I finally listened.

  6. when you take these shots are they always skyy shots? If this happens to me it means that ive been sticking with the same liquor for a long time. So the solution is move on to a different liquor. For example I drank Captains all the time when I pregamed with the boys and after a month I started to gag. Then I switched to Jose and it was much easier. I hope this helps man.

  7. try drinking some milk before you start shots - it coats the stomach and isn't 'burned' with acids that have a tendency to rise up.

It happens to me with coffee sometimes if I don't eat first.

  8. thats how i am...mine is due to over doing it with ever clear shots one night....

i can only do a shot with a chaser now
