  1. all of the things you tried sound good. you have your days and nights turned around. one thing that helps me is that I run a fan in my room at night to block outside noise and just listening to the droning of the fan sometimes will put me to sleep. Reading makes me drowsy, but you said you already tried that. Remember, even if you can't sleep it is still better to at least lay down and rest than to stay up. You could try progressive relaxation where you start at your toes and concentrate on making them relaxed and feel warm and heavy, and then work your way up your body mentally making each part feel warm and heavy. You might fall asleep before you even reach your forehead!  Sometimes this has worked for me. Also, they do make cd's that supposedly will put you to sleep.

    Good luck to you!

  2. Syd, your circadian rhythms are out of phase (the medical term for you are sleepng wrong between day and night 'normal' sleepind cycle)  R u Serious, focusin on blue?? you might as well turn on the vaccuum cleaner and stick the hose inm your ear to clean the wax out.  Both ideas are ineresting, but hardly useful.  OTC and perscription meds are available, but again, not very useful for you at this point in your life.  There are some relaxation techniques that I have learned over the years that I can share with you, and I'm sure one of them will help you.  Pills and alcohol and such like that are only temporary fixes, and they don't really treat the WHY of your problem.  If you are inteested in trying some of the tecniques, send me an Imail and I will be happy to share them with you.  For sake of room and other reasons, I wil lnot publish them in an open forum.

  3. What you do is lay down and cloths your eyes, cover up, get in a comfortable spot and just lay there. And sooner or later you will have fallen asleep you can trust me because, this happened to me and if this doesn't help, go to a doctor and they will help you out it's nothing to cry over.

  4. omg SAME prob.

i've been staying up late, and my mom trys to get me to go to bed to get on a normal sleep schedule for school (2 weeks and 4 days!!!) and i just CANT.

its like, diareah of the brain!

    lol.

it just inst working, and i cannot stay this way.

    it sucks.

i guess ill just exercise, and eat lots of fruit and see what happens. haha.

    OH!

try waking up at like, 6 one day, even after staying up, and then maybe we'll sleep better!

    thx!

    ttyl

  5. Sounds like you have anxiety issues.  But it also sounds like you are just trying to change schedules from your 3 am bedtime to a reasonable one for school.

You should try Yoga before you engage in seeing a psychiatrist over it.  I think you'll be really pleased with the results. Learning to meditate, or to quiet the mind, is an excellent skill to have.  It certainly comes in handy when you are ready to sleep.
