Question:

Serious wound? I would hope not!

Yesterday, while walking, my arm had been cut by by a disheveled fence. The skin had been ripped clear off of a small area; so much so that I could actually see (what I believe) was the tendon right before the blood welled up and covered it. Well, I couldn't actually go back to my grandmother's house until about two or three hours later (around 4 or 5 PM). When I did go back there had only been regular bath soap and no sign of antiseptic, so my gash had basically gone without any cleaning; I had not been able to get a band-aid until 12:30AM the next day. Now the cut is almost fully healed; only the skin is left to reform over the cut. From the time I received the cut until now, it had not been cleaned due to my inopportune situation. The area around the cut is slightly red, slightly tender, and a bit swollen. When I touch it, I feel a bit of pain, and when I leave it be, I feel pain once in a while. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I hadn't been able to ask this question until now, so immediate help would be appreciated.

  1. don't use hydrogen peroxide- it can damage the tissues-just apply some poly sporin, but if the wound isn't very hot to the touch, and the surrounding area isn't super red, i think you are fine. nature has its own antibiotics, they are our white blood cells, I'm sure they are busy keeping it clean.

  2. Try some hydrogen peroxide to clean to wound (even if you have already cleaned it) and put some neosporin on it after.  Bandage it for a bit to leep the medicine in then let it air out for a few hours.  Ice it as well; it will take the swelling down.  If it gets significantly worse go to a doctor.  Keep cleaning it though!

    Good luck! :)

  3. Use Disinfect spray so your wound won't get infected. Take good care of it and that will help you not bleed a lot.

    Good Luck!

  4. A cut that deep should have received medical attention. I'm not a medical professional, but I believe you should see a doctor ASAP, since a deep cut often requires layers of stitches, both deep ones and ones closing the skin.
