The French are long time allies of the Russians.

During the Saddam era for example, both the Russians and French supplied Saddam with most of his weaponry.  Why?  Because Saddam was having a war with Iran [terrorist state etc]. The Americans supplied less than 0.4% of weapons to Saddam - how surprising is that?  Everyone blames the Yanks as usual.

Not only are the Russians fighting Islamic extremist terrorists in Chechnya - they are also working closely with the Chinese in dealing with terrorist attacks there too.

The Ultra Secretive Chinese Special Forces in joint exercises with the Russian Special Forces in 2007 Moscow.

We should make ourselves aware that everyone is probably working closely together behind the scenes in the war on terror.

I'm not saying the above is the case, I'm suggesting that it might be the case now and probably will be in future.

A former head of Mi6 said on TV [BBC?] recently that as soon as the Berlin wall came down, Western Intelligence agencies [CiA/SiS] swarmed into Eastern Europe to establish links with East European intelligence agencies.

Thats all I know.

They've been around quite a bit longer than the US has and they have the benefit of hundreds of years MORE experience on the world stage than the US does, so chances are, they know what they're talking about.

Uh, aloha! I think that France was just trying to but in between the Russian Federation and the U.S.A. and give voice to say something like not now... But we all know that France is just a little one as was seen in WW2 where they said they'd do this to void off Germany but Great Britain had to declare war against Germany, even though Churchill at first didn't seem to mind Hitler and had a few tips for him, ("Anti-antisemitism is a good starter, but it's a bad stinker." Churchill) but they never met. Anyway, it appears that Russia is testing the U.S. to see how long they'll go before they'll act, which could signify the start of another cold war (basis) now that Russia is back and not what it was in 1992. The decision to intervene in the middle of of these two superpowers was great because apparently they were looking straight at each other and had forgotten of the existing world.

Don't ever give the War on Terror any applause as it is a war against those who oppose the United States.

The war on terror is a fraud, it's a war for oil. France knows this which is why it did not support the US on military action in Iraq.

I support the foreign policy of France more then that of the UK or the US at this present time.

So in answer to your question, not at all.

You better be nice to France. They were the one's responsible (along with Germany) for allowing Putin free reign to attack Georgia, by not allowing Georgia into the UN.

France is your masters best friend. Germany has already reconsidered, so, you're stuck between the rock and the hard place if France changes their position.

How is the Georgia issue good for the war on terror?

I have looked at a map. If Georgia becomes pro-Russia, the Russians could likely travel across land to support Iran if they are invaded. Russia--Georgia--Armenia--Iran.

The Iranians pose a larger threat to the US then the Chechnyans.

Well they seem to be getting a long with their currency better than the US.

And they aren't stuck in any drawn out, disputed wars.

Their tourism isn't really dropping cause people can't afford it.
