Ben Cousins is a young, good looking, talented young man who has made the wrong choices and look where it has landed him.

Someone asked if anyone was happy that Ben has been sacked.

I for one, am not happy about him being sacked, just as I am not happy about the way he has lead his life.

At the end of the day, Ben has ruined his life, not mine, not yours, but his and his familys' life.

Football will still be played without him, we will all continue to support our teams without him, life will go on without him.

Lets hope we can teach our children a valuable lesson from this.

  1. Yer his a tosser in more ways than one

  2. Amen girlfriend!!!

It looks like he is being shipped back to USA for more rehab.  I wish him all the best - Its too late to save his career, but at least he may be able to salvage his life.

  3. Lots of young men ruin their lives with drugs , ladies to , I almost did . Such an inglorious demise though . Problem with the culture of the whole Rock Star attitude toward footballers in Perth (specially WEAGLES) . Lets hope that this a lesson for this years crop of draftees and the AFL becomes more pro-active in terms of testing and treatment . 2 tests not three before outing and more penalties for clubs not looking after their young blokes more . Love the Game !

  4. living in western australia didn't help

what else is there to do

  5. Thats the problem faced by discarded or estranged AFL players, they have NO WHERE to go. In Rugby League former Stars and "also runs" can go to England on massive contracts, what would an AFL player do ? Go to Ireland and play Gaelic Football ? It's a joke of a game, even Rugby players could go anywhere in the world ! UK, France, SA, Argentina, Canada etc... Whats Ben going to do become a "trainer" ? Reminds me of that movie St Elmos fire, where the ex jock cant shake a habit and a player says " we could do with someone like you here, to get us some good drugs". Face it, it's a dead end sport.

  6. Well I guess his talent and looks didnt help him. In th clubs n stuff there are drugs everywhere and th dealers know he has money. He got sucked into fame so quickly in Perth from his talent and somehow got hooked on drugs. I think it just goes to show tht it is society's fault.  Im not saying he is good, i know he shouldnt hav done it, but still he is a person in th society and he should be an example tht it can happen to anyone. But you are so right. Life goes on.

  7. Yes he had it all so did Andrew Johns  these are players that have reached the highest pinnacle in sport and still aren't satisfied with life and we ask ourselves why.

Ben has ruined his career but not his life he still can do some good and hopefully now he will get his act together and live  the rest of his life in a constructive way.

  8. NOOOO

    say it isnt SOOOO

  9. He HAD it all and foolishly threw it away.  I think all the young people out there who never got the opportunities he was offered need to give him a good kick up the you-know-what.
