Seriously, why would you cheat in golf?

i played with someone in a tournament and her last hit (which was her 4th putt) , she kicked into the hole with her foot. I told her that there was a penalty for what she did but she said we were friends, therefore i should understand. I can't believe it!

Seriously !! Why would you cheat in life ? There are honest people and there are cheaters. If a person cheats in golf I would have serious reservations doing business or trusting him. One can tell a person's character  by the way he handles himself on the golf course..No one may be the wiser but a moral person has to live with himself .

wow! that is a completly new level of cheating, I have never ever seen or heard of somebody kicking a ball in the hole.

If you cheat at the end of the day you are only cheating yourself. And when that handicap comes down, you know you can't play to it.

I cant bare to cheat myself.

If I am playing for example and got a 6 on a par 4, but my partners say it was a 5 when they ask what I had...I could just say yes, but I can't and will never cheat.

I am sure that she will feel guilty and she will get whats will come back around to her. Now you have caught her cheating, word will get around and they will start to watch and give her the stroke penatlys when caught

What she probably meant when she did that was that if she could kick it in easily with her foot, she just as easily could have putted it in with her club. With this reasoning, why penalize her when there would be the same outcome. I could understand penalizing her if it gave her an unfair advantage over others by doing so, but in this case, I think it is harmless.

I personally agree with you and that there is never any reason to cheat.  If it was a stroke play, then I would have called the penalty as well, the only reason I wouldn't have called it was if it was match play.  Since you said it was her 4th putt, she was in all likelihood out of the hole anyways (unless you REALLY suck).  This is the only reasonable exception to her doing this.

your saying she put it in with 4 shots???? the 4th shot being when she kicked it in??? i agree, you are friends....it was probably so close to the hole that she easily could have putted it in

dont tell me you are "that person" for you giving a penalty for something that was just out of fun

it wasnt the right thing to do, dont get me wrong.....but why are you so serious about it???its not like she picked up the ball and threw it in the hole.....it was probably a gimme and thought it would be funny to kick it in instead of putting it in.....she was probably frustrated she missed her 3rd putt by like 4 or 5 inches and decided to kick it in......golf is supposed to be fun....if it was serious, then why go??? most people go just for fun
