Question:

Seriously... does any educated person truly believe that Katrina was caused by man?

This was not the largest hurricane in the past 5 years... just the only one that hit... barely... the most poorly run city in the U.S.

Mississippi (Gulfport) was hit the hardest, and they recovered in a month.

Stop using Katrina as a crutch for the effect of global warming...... not true....

get educated people

  1. Ask Wal-Mart executives.  Wal-Mart got clobbered pretty badly by Katrina.  They said "Global warming doesn't cause hurricanes.  But it does cause hurricanes to be worse."

  2. NO  BUT IT COULD HAVE  BEEN DIVERTED TO AN AREA AND DESTROYED..  I SENT A PROPOSAL TO ALL THE GOVERNORS from Texas to Connecutt  for $ 1 million per state of HOW TO STOP HURRICANES FROM TOUCHING LAND and they all ignored it. In fact the governor of Lousianna called me up and cussed me out in 2000, When I mentioned whats more important people or money he hung up. NOW  ITS PATENTED BY ANOTHER. AND STILL YOUR GOVERNORS DONT CARE.

  3. BEST STATEMENT EVER

  4. Poor planning, poor engineering, shoddy construction practices, lack of oversight, Puritanical need to punish people who should just be able to take care of themselves if they tried harder.

    What was the question again?

    Oh, hurricane no.  Consequences yes.

  5. Saying any one storm is the result of global warming is incorrect.  You absolutely right about that.  But there's an important point that shouldn't be ignored.

Heat is the fuel of storms.  Saying problems due to storms will generally increase due to global warming is true.  Hurricanes are a special case, since they're limited to certain ares, and dependent on ocean currents, which are changing due to global warming.  So the issue there is still open to debate.

But any educated person knows that global warming will generally increase extreme weather events of all sorts, on average.

  6. No, just that idiot Al Gore.

  7. here here

  8. The consequences of global warming are expected to be extensive.  No individual hurricane or other weather event can be directly attributed to global warming.  But there are some extremely intelligent (far more than you or I) climate scientists who think there's a potential cause and effect relationship between warmer surface water and stronger hurricanes.

This is still an issue under debate among climate scientists, so any attempt to totally dismiss a connection is without merit.

    Edit:

kerqay - I'm quite content with my hair, thank-you. As for educating myself, (in addition to my Physics, Math, and Computer Science education and 25 years professional experience working in the physical sciences) I've been reading scientific journal articles on climate science for nearly 5 years. I suspect that you are the one lacking an education on the subject.  The American Geophysical Union agrees with me, how many scientific organizations agree with you?

  9. Ken... you need more hair...

I have seen all the data from CO2 levels

It is a natural progression that is decades behind temperature increase
