  1. Replace, at your expense, anything that is outdated,     You do not have to tell her. Just so it is there when she needs it..  This tip is for YOU.

  2. I would get her into the " Habit " of checking dates on current inventroy prior to going shopping each month, if she grocery shops monthly ( my mom does). However, if she shops weekly then check bi-weekly.

As she is getting her list together is the best time to pick the items up and check their dates, if only a month is left on the expiration date then replace it.

  3. maybe she thinks that things get better with age?? lol

Seriously though, just tell her it's dangerous and to keep an eye on these things!

  4. I'm laughing because my daughter cleans out our fridge all the time. Sometimes i buy stuff to use in a recipe or because someone is coming over and likes something I usually don't buy. Then it gets put in the fridge and I forget about it. It's kinda like the OTC drugs in your medicine cabinet...if you don't use them all the time you forget they are there.

Good for you getting out of that other situation though...glad you had the sense to get out before it was too late! There are excuses to be made for the contents of your fridge, but not for letting someone beat you.

  5. EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! That is GROSSS! LOL

  6. GROSSSSSS. Take a sharpie and put the expiration date nice and big on the bottles/labels of everything. It's sometimes tricky trying to find them..,.maybe if they were more accessible she'd realize it.

wow, and i thought my mom was bad for keeping things over a year.

  7. Does your mom even realize that foods have expiration dates?  Tell her about the food-borne bacterial diseases you could get from foods in the refrigerator that have been there for more than a year.  Food doesn't have to smell bad to harbor bacteria.

Help her clean out the frig, replace the bad stuff.  Perhaps buy smaller containers so that less gets wasted later on.

  8. What is the throw up part?  So she had some old stuff in the fridge.  Don't eat it if it is rotten.  Help her out by cleaning out her fridge.

  9. That is seriously out of date. I always check the dates when I buy things and you would be surprised at how often the stuff on the store shelves is out of date. You have to be careful. Do your mom a favor and clean our her fridge and replace the old stuff before someone gets sick.

  10. I know how you feel, my dads the same!

It usually helps if after you go through it, you organize it into sections(dairy, meat, fruit) and keep a low stock so they HAVE to go out and get more on a weekly basis.

Then, slowly explain step by step, in an easy to follow and remember manner.

Then, write out instructions in large lettering(also easy to follow) and tape it on the fridge (or you could make another copy and put it where'd she see it often)

And sometimes, you'll have to take it into your own hands and throw stuff out.

(That is pretty gross though, I found ranch from 02 lol)

  11. Take a sharpie and highlite the expiration date. You want her to be able to she the date. Remember, out of sight, out of mind.

  12. good job moving out of an abusive relationship.  yea that is pretty nasty.  just throw old c**p away, lol.  wouldn't it have mold?

  13. Sounds like you mom is losing it.

  14. Please don't toss her stuff without discussing each item with her.

  15. WOWWWW lmfao, wow. i have no idea. you think she would have eaten all of the food by now right? i mean its been TEN [[10!!]] years!!

  16. help her clean out her fridge lmao

  17. everything has to have a sell by date in order to be sold. Just cause it's gone by the sale by date doesn't mean that it has gone off. Most of the food is probably grand if you didn't throw up don't worry about it.
