  1. On the other hand, he's also been seen eating ice cream inside the Green Monster, in between innings.  He has back-handed Kevin Youkilis.  He has benched himself with fake injuries, and he has attacked the Red Sox' travelling secretary because he couldn't get enough comp tickets to a ROAD game.  His defense is TERRIBLE, and he frequently demeans the sport by clowning around in the field, and laughing at his mistakes.  He still makes a great DH, but I think the Sox already have a DH, in David Ortiz.  They're not gonna pick up his option for $20 Million, so why not trade him for a few minor league pitchers, and maybe a young SS who has some range, and can add some speed on the basepaths? (Why not deal him to the Angels for Maicer Izturis, and about 2-3 of the Angels best pitching prospects? The Angels could use the power-bat, and the Sox would add depth, and youth, while cutting a cancer out of their clubhouse)

  2. not to mention a .400 obp every year

    including this one

  3. there are only so many teams that would take him: large market teams that Boston would rarely ever play--so think NL

pretty much the Mets and the Dodgers

yess he has been producing for that club since joining, and it may not be the smartest move for this season, but in the long run trading manny might be a good move for the sox down the road

if they let him go to free agency  they get nothing for him..if they trade him for some good outfielders and  promising prosepects, he becomes a goldmine for the sox

hes also 36..he may not be able to have any more of these monstrous years soon, and if the team held on to them, all they can do is look at the talent that might have been there instead of his undisciplined personality

the red sox can contend without manny, and i think they know that..so there are some plusses and minuses for the team to trading manny, but down the road to trade him now while his stock is high is the best deal for that organization

  4. i heard one guy say he might get traded to the rockies for holliday

  5. His career high in hits is 185 so there's no way he averaged 238 hits as a Red Sox.

Red Sox totals are 1230 hits or 154 per season.

BTW I think they are a better team with him.  I don't think there is a team that will be willing to give up what Manny is worth.  His contract won't be picked up for next season and they'll let him leave as a free agent and pick up a couple of draft picks as compensation.

Edit: How can he average 238 hits a season when he's never had more than 185 in a season??????  Add up his hits as a Red Sox again and you'll see he didn't have 1904 and then revisit your 5th grade math teacher for a refresher course. (162+152+185+175+162+144+143+107=1230)

Edit2: Yes, the Angels could use Manny but I doubt the Sox would trade him to the Angels.  There's a possibility that the Sox and the Angels could meet in the Playoffs if not the first round then maybe the second round.  The Sox won't want to face Manny in the post season so if they were to trade him, it would probably be to an NL team.

  6. No and the Cubs suck,  lol

  7. The Red Sox won't trade Manny, but also won't resign him next season & yes he has 2 rings but it wasn't all Manny by himself wiinning 2 titles.  He helped along with Beckett, Big Papi, Yuk, Lowell & Johnny Damon was a big part of the 2004 championship. It was a team effort in winning 2 titles

  8. if he were to be traded it would probably be to some team like the dodgers or mets or rays

  9. The red sox will be better without him because they won't have a huge distraction in the locker room.  He also has to many antics.  They could trade him away if they would pick up half is salary.  They have the farm system to trade away some people.  WE have the second best farm system in the MLB. Right behind the Rays.  It's about time the guys moves. It's also what he wants.
