Seriously though...is it really that big of a deal that China is showing superiority at the Olympics?

Why is media portraying China as a serious contender for America greatness and what it has accomplished. Its true that China has upstaged USA in an international venue like the Olympics by winning the most Gold medals and has had a great economic boost in the recent years but aren't they still behind in civil rights, religious tolerance, freedom of speech and racial integration? Isn't that part of whats needed to become the most powerful, most stable, and moderately well diverse nation in the World?

It's a big deal to China, that's why they send underage girls to compete.  American athletes can have a disappointing performance in the Olympics and not have anything to fear from their government, regardless of what some people will say the Chinese athletes don't have that luxury.

well, I assume by your question that you think the USA is the most powerful, most stable, and moderately well diverse nation in the World?

Because China is going up slowly and steadly,  while us, the free speakers and racial integraters have a ecodmeny going like this.
